    Inspect every round you load

Amen to looking over cartridges your stuffing in the mag. I found this one a couple weeks ago. Just barely noticed something off at first.

My first Mosin, plus more indoor range fun

My friend has a Mosin same or similar to yours. The muzzle blast experience at an indoor range with russian surplus ammo is a real show stopper!

    AR 10 FTE

I have a mostly Aero AR in 308 with what sounds like the same problem. The only way it will eject somewhat reliably is the the gas block wide open, and even then 1 in 20 rounds will stove pipe or not exit the port. The brass is dented pretty badly from contact with the deflector, then bounces...

What do you consider a good group size

My specific current pursuance is open sights, off hand at 50 yards. I generally shoot groups off sand bags with whatever combo of ammo and gun I have that day, then stand and try to reproduce those rested group measurements. Most days its with a Remington 521T, Lyman rear peep sight. Rested it...

Here is an easy question: What is the prettiest gun for you to look at?

An 03 A3 is beauty, and begs to be picked up.

Let's see the .22 rifles that make you smile

Make that 2 for the 521T! This was my grandfathers rifle, and now my go to 22.

    How accurate is your 10/22

Mine shoots terrible, and I consider it a waste of ammo to take it to the range. I shot next to maybe a dozen guys who had major mods to their 10-22's, and shot off sleds. A few shot as well as my 521T, but most were no better, or only marginally better than mine. When I say terrible I mean 3"...

    Gas block alignment for AR-10

Great find, SS Speed Six, 2.75" Barrel

I couldnt find anything specifically for my Speed Six, then ran across this Azula holster for a S&W K frame on Amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/Wesson-Revolver-Leather-Pancake-Holster/dp/B0727T2NSM ). It required some forming to get proper retention, but that wasn't a big deal at all. Fits the...

What is the worst revolver you have ever owned?

S&W 29-3. It just won't group even reasonably well. Shoots better (but not good) with maximum charged handloads, but then the screws loosen up every 20 rounds or so. It's still in the safe, awaiting trade up.

    What’s the skinny on a 700

I found a video awhile back that did a very good job of familiarizing with the Remington trigger. I'll be damned if I can find it now to share though. The unintended discharge failures aren't as random as they are a function of the trigger not being in the forward position when the safety is...

Using the edge (or corner) of the front sight

I found it much easier to make out the edge of the sight rather than the whole blur that is my front sight. At 61 yo my eyes are crap, and the sights appear as a hazy mirage, with the target actually being clearest as you pointed out.

Using the edge (or corner) of the front sight

I saw this thread last week, and then yesterday found myself shooting at 50 yds with a Ruger MKII sights out of adjustment. I used the left side of the front sight and found that was putting hits in the black, it worked much better than the wide sight that was about 1 1/2 times the size of the...

How many trips to the car does it take to get to the range?

1 trip for me. Our public range is quite a hike from the car. A back pack carries ammo, targets, muffs, and handguns. Leaves hands free for 2 long guns, sometimes only 1.

    Offering advice at the range?

Years ago it seemed much different. There were quite a few days we would swap benches and try each others arms.I think we may have just had more time on our hands to socialize, and compare.

Anyone have experience with the Crossman M-1 Carbine?

Got one when I was 12. Loved it, shot it a bunch. The barrel cocking was difficult for a kid, and it wasnt all that powerful. Wouldnt break a returnable soda bottle at any distance. but would break old pickle jars and such. Seemed to be built very sturdy. The plastic stock was solid, not hollow...

    Air Guns Pistols Best Models

Long obsolete, but still can be found, the BSA Scorpion is a very good pistol. I bought mine in the 80's. I'd been looking at the Beeman Hurricane, and Webley Tempest. We shot them all in the store, and originally I couldn't see getting the unconventional BSA untill we shot them all . The BSA...

    Offering advice at the range?

Definitely agreed on "How you do it" Hokie! These 2 guys had a genuine look of bewilderment, and didn't seem the type to ask. I left them alone after they got on the paper. I don't plan on making a habit of it.
