Three years.
Back in the first year of the pandemic I signed up to be notified when their .327 Fed Mag brass would be available again.
Three years later they wrote to ask if I were still interested? Yes, I was! I "updated my payment info" and they sent it to me. Even sold it to me at their...
Synthetic on a lever gun doesn't do it for me. Wood all the way!
I do like the pistol/carbine concept though. I have a pair in .357 mag and . 327 Fed Mag. Am seriously considering a . 44 as well for just because.
I have one I inherited from my dad Synthetic stock.
As a truck gun it would have some use in the "whatever comes along" sense. I would not care to carry it much. As others have noted it is heavy. Mounting a sling would be a good idea.
From the shine on it I'm wondering is that a plastic adhesive label?
If so, nothing much is going to penetrate. Your best bet is to find a very thin plastic edge of some sort that can get under the an edge so that you can then begin to slowly peel it off.
Once the barrier plastic has been...
I went with the 20" steel myself. My factory ammo for it is the 100gr Federal American Eagle load for the reasons Fulk above shows.
327 Fed Mag is pretty much a hand load only proposition any more if you don't already have a stash of factory ammo on hand.
Sure glad I bought all the brass I...
A. S&W Model 34-1
B. 4" barrel
C. Square butt
D. Blued
E. Serial #M194xx
No diamond on the grip checkering, but the barrel is pinned, so I believe that makes it between 1969 and 1982?
Can anyone narrow that down for me?
Thanks!
This will probably sound like an odd question, but here goes. I seem to recall reading some years ago that some police departments used to have an annual blessing of their guns by the department chaplain for their use in the cause of rightousness, justice, etc. This was not a universal practice...
I like big bore wadcutters out of short barrels such as a Charter Arms Bulldog Pug. No need for high velocities. A 200gr wadcutter in the 800fos range will penetrate plenty while still remaining controllable for faster followup shots.
For a longer barrelled gun I would go with higher...
Thanks for posting that as I was recently wondering about using Johnson's on leather. It looks good to me. Now I have to go to my local Ace to see if they still have any. I think I have a full can left.
I've never made a holster before, but I just this week ordered a book on holster making...
I don't carry it as a self-defense gun per se, but I have an SP101 in 327 that I carry as a kit-gun while out on my property. If it were really for defense I'd want something larger, but for pests and varmints at closish range it gets the job done.
I'm not fond of using full-power 327 loads in...
I recently had my entire rimfire ammo stash out which is like a history of all the ammo I ever bought from cheapo Wildcats to Green Tag and Eley.
The only thing I buy anymore is CCI Standard Velocity or MiniMags. Not necessarily because they are the very best for any given gun, but because they...
Many years ago in the pre-World Wide Web days I asked in the Usenet rec.food.cooking group "what makes kosher salt 'kosher'?" Now almost immediately I was given the answer that the salt itself is not kosher, but is used in kashering meat to make it kosher. Which is all I really wanted to know...
I load 44 wadcutters. No need for magnum pressures though. Get them up to 850-900fps and they'll penetrate plenty. For pocket pistols I like them in the 750-800fps range.
Matt's Bullets is where I got most of mine from 200grs to 250grs (if I'm remembering correctly). They work well for me.
It...
Well, 25 inches should be through and through cutting a .36 caliber hole all the way. Slow on the reload, but chances are you won't need more than the first cylinder anyway. I do the same with my 44 Bulldog.
I'm not - yet - gray enough to have been able to legally carry in the 1970s, but I will admit my father carried a Bulldog back in the day. He used to carry large cash deposits to the bank.
My first center-fire semi-autimatic was a Star PD and I liked it a lot and carried it a lot. Had the feed...
I am still using the Speer 200gr jhp "flying ashtrays" in my 45s because I bought a lot of them back in the day. They've always fed and functioned well for me and they had a good track record when they were still being produced so I see no need to change them.
My 9mm journey started many years...
I thought I had Rio #1 in mine, but it turns out to be Armscor. 3 pellets per layer.
For indoors I use low-recoil #3 buck and keep the #1 buck in the buttcuff along with slugs if I need to step outside where range and penetration becomes a concern.
Me as well.
Mine are all chambered for 327 for which I have plenty of that caliber ammo. But I found over time what I'm actually shooting the most of is 32 H&R either in it's brass or 327 brass loaded to that power level. If I really feel the need to put the hit on something I'll step up to...
I like wood and leather so this one gets the job done for me. It's a 20ga because my family needs to be able to use it. I live in the country so need a light to be sure I'm shooting a coon not the neighbor's cat if it's dark. Twenty inch barrel with choke tubes and rifle sights Six rounds of...
