The “Chicken Coop” Defender. Another rifle debate.

Yeah, I gotta agree with JMR40. I use an old Nylon 66, for pest control, around the yard. Today you can get a Marlin 60, if you like tubies, or a Ruger 10/22, if you prefer box mags.

    Old Ammo

One caveat: A gun is a poor storage place for ammo. I've had ammo fail in less than a year, if left continuously in the gun. Personally, I'd conjecture the powder gets rattled out of the primer. But however it happens, ammo failure, IME, has been primarily caused by it's constantly being in the...

What brand Ginsu, RA40? That's what we all do around here, is cut our tomatoes paper thin!

    High Standard Duramatic No Worky

22LR is very sooty ammunition. Deep cleaning may be required. Be sure to dis-assemble and clean the mag, especially.

    Silly question probably but...

I'd attempt to find somebody with their own range, or another outside range. Save yourself a lot of time at the reloading bench.

Ruger New Model Vaquero v. New Model Blackhawk

My Blackhawk has really tight tolerances at the forcing cone. That's one of the reasons I prefer it over DAs. The Vaquero is a different caliber, but a much lighter gun.

Multiple ammo brands for different guns?

My preferences are for S&B, Fiocchi, and Prvi Partizan(PPU). I avoid Blazer, and steel ammo when possible.

    Lever action .350 Legend?

Hell, I'd just settle for a bolt action 350 Legend with a smooth action. The Ruger American in 350 Legend, IME, is a one shot gun, it's such a slow and sloppy action. Wish that rifle could chamber a round crisply and cleanly, like the M77 MKII can.

    Anything But A .30-06.....

Got a cheap 350 Legend bolt action, and a couple inexpensive boxes of 350 Legend. So, I guess, it's going to be 350 Legend for a while .

The .30-06…the king of cartridges is it fading to the sidelines?

Declining ? As in demand? Because, as an example, 350 Legend-19$ a box: standard 30.06 ball, 42$ a box...

What Features Do You Require In A Pocket Knife

My only requirement is the Victorinox stamp, on the main blade.

Do we really need all of that performance??

Soo, spend outrageous money, on ammo, which will then put a strain on the limits of my chamber, bolt, extractor, and other internals? Hard pass. If I need a stronger caliber, I'll use a stronger caliber.

First 1911... Talk me out of (or into) this Kimber

Does it have the exact sights you want, already upon it? Because for a "custom gunmaker", it has been my experience that Kimber won't work with you, at all, making sure you get the sights you want, on your new gun. They simply refuse to work with you, in any manner, at all, and then leave you...

My bolt wasn't closed all the way

Never a trophy animal. But if I had a nickel for every misfire on a pest animal, I would be able to buy a VERY expensive steak dinner.

    Ammo shrinkflation

One thing I notice is suppliers are selling a lot of crap ammo, at insane-o hoarder prices. Warehouses and retailers seem to be pushing out their old, unpopular stock, first. I see a lot of lead nosed 22LR, steel cased ammo, and Blazer brass, going for top dollar, to the people who deserve it...

    Squirrel calls

Rub a pair of quarters together. There's a special way to do it, it's on U-toob. Just sit there, and draw them within range.

    New PSA 5.7 Rock Pistol

Yeah, if we can start getting ammo, for less than 150$ a box, that will be nice, too.

TSA confiscates record number of guns in 2021

I just hope those poor beleaguered TSA agents have all had enough time to give all the grannies from Topeka their cavity searches, also. I'd simply hate to think they were doing anything even mildly productive, like, say, perhaps, preventing folks from foreign countries with viruses, to waltz...

    Shooting Tula .357 Magnum Ammo.

I got a case of the Tula .357, apparently steel cased cartridges expand, but unlike brass, don't "stretch" back to original size. Fortunately, in my case, I have one revolver with slightly larger chambers, in the cylinder, and the Tula doesn't get stuck as much. I would recommend salting the...

Thinking about getting a shotgun. Semi auto vs pump and mag vs tube fed

Another vote for the Mossberg 500. You can literally load the tube mag, after firing a couple rounds. They are lightweight, dependable, what everybody around here uses. Get the Mossberg 500 package that comes with the 18.5 and 28 inch barrels. Then you can hunt with it, too.
