    Uberti va Pietta

My Uberti Pocket Navy barely would fire before I stoned every surface (not to mention the short arbor etc.). It's been a total PITA! But it's beautiful and I love it! (a model not made by Pietta). My Pietta 1851 Navy came with a broken trigger spring, but otherwise fired perfectly out of the...

H&R Pardner Bolt Assembly Won't Remove?

Well, doing research, I figured out the the latch lever was not staked well enough and when i tried disassembling it that it just slid into the wrong position. Restaking tools are pretty expensive so i think i'll just deal with it as-is or go the Super Glue route. Got the gun out for shooting...

H&R Pardner Bolt Assembly Won't Remove?

Thanks! Like your Elvis Costello lyrics! :) Since I wasted so much time figuring out what was up with that spring, I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to go out shooting it with my son. What did you have to tune to get the eject working? I cycled through a bunch of shells just to see and...

H&R Pardner Bolt Assembly Won't Remove?

Something was wrong with the installation of the side spring. Removed that from the rear and reassembled and it more or less works as intended. So I guess I'll leave this here for anyone else who has the same problem. If it won't work out the way it is supposed to, just remove the side spring...

H&R Pardner Bolt Assembly Won't Remove?

I just picked up one of those H&R Pardner Protector 12 gauge shotguns guns because they were only $148 at the Walmart. Trying to clean it to take out shooting. Cannot get the bolt assembly to separate. Is there a special trick? Manual says to push little release on left side and side out. No...

Taurus Spectrum - 7 Round Mag?

I've taken the magazine apart a couple times and can't see anything that is out of the ordinary. I'll buy a second one and see about that.

Taurus Spectrum - 7 Round Mag?

Yeah, if I hadn't liked the feel of the gun so much, I probably wouldn't have given it a chance. Though when I looked back at all the reviews, most that had issues were only with certain ammo (and most didn't have issues at all!). Since mine worked perfectly with Federal, Winchester and...

Taurus Spectrum - 7 Round Mag?

Haha! Peace! I do agree with those serenios, but I'm also kind of worried about *me* pulling such a little gun out of the waistband of my pants etc. Like the guy that couldn't get the round chambered, he was probably fumbling around like crazy... the same kind of lack of control could easily...

Taurus Spectrum - 7 Round Mag?

I guess I can imagine that tripping and falling into a shrub with a sharp stick jabbing through my pocket and pushing the trigger back as being at least as likely as needing that extra second or two that's wasted chambering a round or needing that extra round at all (statistics aren't convincing...

Taurus Spectrum - 7 Round Mag?

    >>Good luck on keeping this thread about the Spectrum seven-rounder and not having it derail into a chambered-vs-unchambered one. Haha! I tried to avert that, but probably have already failed. I guess the bottomline is that *I* feel safer with the gun in my pocket without one in the chamber...

Taurus Spectrum - 7 Round Mag?

So I needed to get a "deep conceal" weapon for personal protection and went to my local gun shot thinking I'd look at the Ruger LCP II and Smith & Wesson Bodyguard. The guy grabbed the Taurus Spectrum out of the case by accident and I kind of scoffed, "Taurus, I don't think so." He shrugged and...

1862 Pocket Navy -- hammer not flat?

That is so awesome! My dad was strictly anti-guns and anti-anything that went boom! (He meant well.) So now, getting into BP, is kind of me rediscovering something that I was always passionate about as a kid. Took out books from the library and we'd go to all the history museums and my dad...

1862 Pocket Navy -- hammer not flat?

Update! Had a chance to go out shooting my 1862 Pocket after modding the main spring and even though cocking feels better, the blow-by cap jams weren't significantly reduced. Maybe a little, but nothing huge. On the other hand, my second son went shooting it for the first time and loved the...

    1849 arbor length

The arbor on the pockets have a shoulder that is wider so it jams in the hole before the arbor bottoms out. It will start loosening up pretty soon though. Washers are kind of a pain, but as long as you have a few spares in case you lose one, it's a super easy *fix*. Or maybe it won't matter much...

1862 Pocket Navy -- hammer not flat?

Haha! It doesn't look like I have to re-bore the barrel! <whew!> :) Seriously, I would have liked to get a Wells Fargo and 1862 Police, but with all the problems I'm having with this gun and all the examples of bad manufacturing in it, I won't buy another Uberti. Too bad really, since they're...

    Where to buy BP?

Locally, there are a few Ace Hardware stores that carry it. Not the cheapest, but easiest! Regarding load, my 1851 Navy (Pietta) likes 20 gr 3F Goex just fine! Enjoy!

1862 Pocket Navy -- hammer not flat?

So here's the result after filing 3mm off the end of the spring and straightening it. I have taken out the dramatic bend in the spring and there is an increase in initial stiffness (that first 1/4" of hammer travel) and the overall transitional force is smoother than before, so im I happy with...

1862 Pocket Navy -- hammer not flat?

Thanks for those, arcticap. I was asking about modifying the geometry of the existing spring in the 1862 pocket (not adding anything) so it acted more like the spring in my 1851. That's something different I think. Worst comes to worst, i ruin my existing spring, buy a new one and use the old...

1862 Pocket Navy -- hammer not flat?

So using the "advanced search" feature to find further reading on my problem, I ran into a bunch of people noting that their pocket Ubertis had a very soft hammer pull for the first 1/4" and then it got stiffer. I checked and mine does too! My Pietta 1851 doesn't! The hammer pull/resistance is...

1862 Pocket Navy -- hammer not flat?

Yeah, the gun would barely fire when i got it, the burrs and tight fitting parts! The action is all pretty smooth now... given all the "love" i've had to put into the gun already! :)
