    Neck turning

Neck turning certainly does improve neck uniformity in the brass which translates into more consistent and uniform tension on the bullet. When I was shooting benchrest we had really good flat based bullets with pressure rings that made like a “snap” feeling when hand seated - something I don’t...

    Neck turning

This was my experience as well. I shot a 6ppc LV back in the early 90s and then a 22ppc. At that level we were already using top tiered components like lapua brass and custom bullets, so the idea was to eliminate all the variables possible. I saw enough to convince me that there is a place for...

I don't want a Sig P365. Tell me why I'm wrong or offer options.

How about the SAS? I am intrigued with that iteration, although my personal minimum is a G19.

    2024 Turkey Season Firearms/Bows?

Benelli Super Nova, 12 guage. Been using it for years. Winchester Longbeard 3”, #4 turkey loads. Undertaker choke. Seems to work ok for me.

Must be that they were shot in a defective chamber? That is weird. I’ve never seen something like that before. But I think they would clean up when you resized them.

    My Carry Routine

An old, retired Alabama State Trooper once told me that spray was ineffective against dogs. He was deployed on what became the ABI swat team. He said they found cheap water pistols with a 50/50 mix of ammonia and water to be more effective. I’ve never really thought about that.

    Gun-toting lawyers in Arkansas

I really like how you said it - “ so now we’re going to introduce guns into the equation where they weren’t before.” An excellent point. I‘m not sure I understand why lawyers may feel the need to carry a weapon inside the courthouse in the first place? We also have dockets that are just...

Alright, what do you all think 1911 decision?

Smith got it right the first time. I think it’s just the purists who don’t like the external extractors.

    Gun-toting lawyers in Arkansas

Wow! In my little back-country circuit in deep south Alabama, there are lawyers who’ve come to fist blows in the past, in the court room. There are colleagues I don’t think I’d want to be packing. We have judges who pack heat, and to be perfectly honest there are some court house deputies who...

Alright, what do you all think 1911 decision?

Of those choices, Springfield Armory. Disclaimer: I do have a Kimber in the stable as I write this. It’s their Commander model. Can’t recall specifically which one it is.

    Bench scope

You didn’t say at what range you’ll be punching paper? I used to shoot 200 yard benchrest back in the early 90s with a 36x Leupold, to give you some idea of the magnification for that range at the time. There appear to be a lot of good quality options out there, and I wouldn’t be so quick to...

Why Do You Carry A Gun?

It’s certainly a better reasoned explanation than some other posts thus far.

    Lee's Factory Crimp Die?

First things first….roll crimps are for revolver rounds. Taper crimps are for auto pistol rounds. Lee’s “factory crimp” dies are excellent for either. I use both and I can endorse their utility … for whatever that may be worth to you. And I have die sets that are not Lee. Nothing against their...

    Let's talk 40gr & lighter loads in 223

No real empirical reason, as performance wise in the field they should be indistinguishable. The Tactical holds maybe a grain less in powder than the Practical, and is the same case length as the Practical and standard .223. I have a ton of 223 brass on hand, and it’s just easier to source...

    Let's talk 40gr & lighter loads in 223

And one of the reasons I’m building a 20 Tac. I just don’t get a ballistic advantage to my way of thinking in a .224 at 40grains (and lower) in a 222/223 case. But a .204…..now you’ve piqued my interest.
