It will naturally darken with age. We assure you, it is a crafted product. The color may not be ideal but it is still passable.

It sounds like an issue with a bullet that's too light, it is overpenetrating. I'd do a heavier bullet at slower velocity. Can you chamber a Mini-30 in this cartridge?
