Mare's Leg: Worth it or a waste?

McQueen's Mares Leg was a 44-40 and he only carried 45-70's in the belt to "look cooler" for TV.

I have no idea where people even shoot anymore.

All it takes is money. Only you can decide what you want to spend yours on but the cost is the same for you as everyone else.

    Favorite 45ACP mold

The one I use MOST is the 230 RN 6 cavity, tumble lube Lee. I probably couldn't even guess with in a thousand how many of those I've made, loaded and shot.

    Things to Not Do

Don't shoot at a roadside type guard rail. Not even if it is on your own target range or a scrap junk yard. You think those refrigerators full of tannerite come back at you fast... you ain't seen nuth'n yet.

    What motivates your gun-related expenditures?

I want to shoot it and shoot stuff with it.

    Realistic hunting challenge

Don't hunt 'em like they are Walmart paper and don't miss. It's hunting a life trophy animal, not a Youtube challenge.

    Realistic hunting challenge

Thats another thing, my weather in hunting season around here in Nov, Dec, Jan looks nothing like those videos and nothing that flys walks or runs in Indiana has a heart the size of a gallon milk jug, let alone one that just sits there waiting for the 3rd or 10th shot.

    Realistic hunting challenge

Wish I could get the animals around here to come out on to hard paved ground with no weeds, grass or briars on a nice sunny dry day about noon and in front of my shooting sticks, mats, spotting scopes and with an awesome back stop just in case of a pass through.

As a bullet caster, my dreaded time approaches!

I sold my steel, zinc and scrap today from those ww and got $43 back today. I had 450 pounds saved up.

As a bullet caster, my dreaded time approaches!

Started raining on me today just as I got the pot full all the way to the top... never poured ingots that fast before. Soon as I got the pot pretty clean, it quit raining. I THINK I've got all of my wheel weights processed. I hope I never see another one. The pure, soft lead should all be a...

As a bullet caster, my dreaded time approaches!

Put a "little" candle wax in there yesterday just to get a good picture. Wife said it was pretty impressive. LOL

Over heard at a local gun range.

My "panic buying" involved BAGS of shot, 8 pound containers of powder, roofing lead, buckets of wheel weights bullet and buckshot molds.

As a bullet caster, my dreaded time approaches!

Worked through another 5 gallon bucket today. Wound up with about 90 pounds of lead ingots and a 100 pounds of "mixed metals". Wife took a picture when I'd just started a enough fire in the stove to set the pot on it. Used up about 3/4 of that wood pile you see there between the stove and the...

As a bullet caster, my dreaded time approaches!

I've got steel stamps. I mark ingots with W, L, or F for fixtures. I usually throw a pound ingot of W in with a pot of L and then water drop bullets for all hand guns, except black powder and they are pure L. I paint the end of the ingots when I stamp them just to make it quicker to sort but the...

You can get a set of art pencils pretty cheap to test lead hardness.

As a bullet caster, my dreaded time approaches!

I think the dust in the bottom of a bucket of WW is more dangerous than the melting lead. I clean the wheel weights dumping them on my gold panning classifier over water first just to let the dirt and dust through the screen and take a pre - sort of the valve stems and lug nuts.

As a bullet caster, my dreaded time approaches!

Meh, I just burn the junk and sticks left over from a wood pile and and bark and what falls around the yard. We just replenished the ready to use pile for this today picking up sticks in the yard. Pretty much a garden wagon full and then I split any thing big enough to be irritating in about...

As a bullet caster, my dreaded time approaches!

I process to ingots in my campfire area, on a wood stove I built just for it. Flux out there with pine needles and saw dust. Store and use the ingots in the garage.

    What did you shoot today?

    3 3/4" and a little less than a second 15 round magazine.
