I'm a fan of 1 tube of Lee lube to 91+% iso alcohol. Couple sprays in a freezer bag, roll some brass around, wait 5 minutes, start loading. Makes a big difference in carbide sizing dies and cheap.
First, give it a couple months at least. See how much you're actually consuming. 1000 rounds a month, unless you have a lot of free time, you might want something beyond a LCT.
My chronicle is well documented here. I'm glad I learned on a LCT, but I'm ready to move on to something more...
Using .451 FMJs and the FCD, I occasionally get a jerk of the press going through the FCD on the upstroke, particularly with thicker brass i.e. Federal. This kind of has me concerned a little bit as to how smooth the press will operate. Safer bet to go ahead and pick up a regular taper crimp die?
Well I feel like it's time for an update. To this point I'm at ~6k rounds of .45 ACP loaded on the LCT. I just recently got the Auto Drum working half decent with Lee sending a new drum. It's funny (sad) how the drums are a crap shoot, but make all the difference. I still get the random odd...
The VQ hammer does induce light strikes. I probably had 7 or 8 out of 10 light strikes per mag after installing the trigger kit. I'd read elsewhere that VQ would send you one of their firing pins (which I found out needs to be replaced anyway) if you let them know about your issues, and that's...
Had a G43 a couple years now. Got it up to 1k rounds pretty quick, but it's not a primary carry and don't take it every range trip so it's only at 1800 now. Never had any problem with it. G19s get the bulk of my 9mm.
Interesting post. I've shot a lot of steel case stuff in my lifetime in pistols and rifles and never had a problem. I do find it comical when reading different forums how people feel like they have to apologize before they mention they shot some steel case ammo.
As long as they're safe loadings, if you like em hot then load em hot. Who's that guy to say you can't?
For loading bulk handgun ammo, I prefer something around factory standard pressure loading. The mouse fart loads are counter intuitive for my purposes.
If you want something *different* to shoot, get an AK. It's why I have an AR in 7.62x39 and an AK in 5.56 and they each happen to be two of my favorite rifles to shoot. No one gets to say you have to be married to a particular platform per caliber. Either caliber in the AR platform is going to...
Have you tried actually installing it to see if it will work?
My MBT is installed with an ambi safety and works fine. They might mean the non-90 degree throw selectors.
Yep, had never seen it before but seems to be uncommon. Doing a google image search I was only able to find one other image similar to it from a forum post several years ago.
If it wasn't for the Gen 4 I would've never gotten into Glock...I'm just not a fan of the Gen 3 at all and don't have any desire for the 5th generation. However, I'd end up having to rent a few, but I have a feeling I might would land in the M&P realm. I just tend to lean towards more common...
Thanks for your insight.
The brass I tried was from the usual white with black lettering Winchester NATO boxes, but I have a case I haven't cracked into yet that's in a plain military style brown box that came packed in a 50 cal can. I assume it's the same exact ammo, but am wondering if the...
Can't really tell from the pics, but the cracks are almost always around the entire circumference of the case so these cases will have 3 to maybe 5 cracks in this area. These have long been in the trash, but I finally remembered to take a picture of them before they were all gone so I could post...
I recently was given a bunch of range pickup .45 ACP brass for almost nothing that had been tumbled. As I was inspecting the cases, I found several cases (all RWS so I'm assuming loaded by the same person) possibly appearing to be reloads with cracks around the case head as shown in the pics...
I think in the next couple months or so I'm going to start loading 9mm, just need to get some projectiles. I've read where a lot of people chunk the NATO brass due to having crimped primer pockets, but I had a decent amount of this ammo and now a good bit of brass from it. Recently I pulled one...
