    Reliable 30-06 bullet

I use 180g SST with 53.5g IMR-4831. Instant one shot kills every time (head shots). Groups under an inch at 100 yards all day. In my rifle they are 3.385” touching the lands. I load COAL at 3.370”.

Power cost of running a tumbler?

and i just like the look of bright shiny brass. i don't waste my time thinking about how much it costs me to tumble brass. if i nickeled and dimed everything about reloading, i wouldn't reload. i just love the whole process, and waste my money accordingly. just my opinion. LOL

    Why no pump rifles?

Me too. I could kick myself for trading mine in 32 Remington. Just came across a box of ammo for it from my grandpa from around the 1930’s while cleaning up my reloading supplies

    Powder measure / dropper

I use the large cap from laundry detergent bottles. (The ones that are measuring cups/caps for the detergent)(we use arm and hammer)Like it because it holds quite a bit of powder when loading rifle rounds, it’s large flat base makes it stable and almost spill proof, it’s easy to use your dippers...

Does anyone know what this is?

I appreciate everyone’s input. One of the reasons I love this forum. I found all the parts that Walkalong had in his photo, and now can’t wait to use it.

Does anyone know what this is?

Thank you, thank you. That’s exactly what it is. Went back after seeing your pictures and moved the lock ring and there was the other set screw underneath. Loosened and the rod came out. That now explains some other parts I found.

Does anyone know what this is?

Ok. I just mounted in press. Have some new .243 brass and a bullet would not enter mouth. Ran brass into this “die” and it did indeed expand mouth enough to get bullet started, couldn’t push it in by hand, but see if I used bullet seating die, it will go in without issue. So if this is what it...

Does anyone know what this is?

That makes sense to me, but based on what the uncle loaded, doesn’t make sense. Will see if I can measure the rod and see if I can figure it out or maybe that will help identify it. Thanks for the input

Does anyone know what this is?

Ok, the friend I got it from got it from his uncle who passed away, that’s why he didn’t know. It has no markings, and doesn’t appear to have any moving parts. Someone else suggested it was a primer pocket swagger, but I don’t see how that would work. If this was setup in the press, how would...

Does anyone know what this is?

I just bought a bundle of reloading supplies from a friend. This was included but have no idea what it is. Other items in stuff I got was 7mm REM mag, .243win, .270win, and .220 swift.

What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

I use cereal boxes for this (use front and back pieces) then staple my copy paper targets to it to keep holes clean through paper. Easy to store and free. I also use plumb bob when aligning targets on holder to keep/check alignment of crosshairs in scope.

What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

I took an aluminum (or brass) rod that fits down the barrel and use two collars that will slide up/down the rod. The collars have set screws. Run rod to bolt face and secure collar at muzzle, remove rod, install another collar and re-install rod down barrel until it touches tip of bullet that...

What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

I did the same thing. It also keeps brass from getting scratched by threads of rod

What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

I just put a rubber fender washer under the metal fender washer that the wing nut screws down on. It keeps the wing nut from loosening and quiets down the noise of the metal washer

Gun Show Reloads? 44 Mag advice needed.

After reading most of the comments I have two thoughts on this. First, a nice label doesn’t mean anything. I’m very meticulous in my reloading and I use both printed labels and hand written labels on my reloads. The label on the box matches the slip of paper I put inside the box as well. It has...

    first caliber reloaded for

My neighbor Jim who was Vietnam era Marine, got me started loading .38/.357 mag in 1988. Still have spiral notebook paper with loads he gave me to get started. Bought a Lee C press, dies, dippers, scale, Unique powder and got going. Bought a tumbler from Midway which was a vibrating base with...

    Be careful with your reloading

I reload generic ammo that fires satisfactorily in all of my 9mm for target practice/plinking, for example, and also load ammo that fires better for each individual pistol/rifle/etc. My point is that certain recipes work better in my HiPower than my SR9 or SCCY, etc. THIS is why I don't let...

    Be careful with your reloading

It's interesting the comments about not shooting others people's reloads or sharing your reloads with others, (and I agree to a point), yet we as reloaders share recipes and suggestions to others (with the disclaimer to work loads up safely, and, I assume no responsibility for the load) all the...

Need loads for antique winchester in 32-20. Lots of powder, no data

I have been loading for an 1892 octagon barrel manf 1904, with 3.0g Titegroup, CCI-500, in Starline nickel plate, COL at 1.580", with a 95g Cast Performance (32/95) LRNFP. Haven't shot through Chrono, but based on load data for pistol rounds, which is what I could find, believe in the 950-1050...
