    Duffle cut stock repair

Both rifles the rifles are mine and I'm happy they have been fixed. I bought both rifles about 3 years ago. I knew the Carcano M41 was cut when I bought it at a gunshow. The Belgian M1889 was an online auction find lumped together with a sporterized Argentine Mauser. I was unaware of the duffle...

    303 British Ammo

Really? You are piece of work. You wanting to make things personal by questioning my education and intelligence is low. I really wanted to hear your first hand experiences without the smartass remarks. Sorry, I don’t have time to sit around and surf the internet all day. I’m done here, since...

    303 British Ammo

Hey I finally got you to directly respond! Answer me this ,how much personal experience do you have with surplus ammo? How many guns have you personally seen blow up from old ammo? I’ve personally fired thousands of rounds and HAVE encountered problems.Ive also had discussions with people that...

    303 British Ammo

I don't have a break out of the percentage of the stockpile that are small arms ammunition, but I have read in other presentations, that by weight, it is a significant amount. At least 50%. I would like to see the breakdown of what percentage of the above is small arms ammunition. I would...

    303 British Ammo

I've never seen a Curpo nickel jacked bullet loaded in POF ammo. Link to full thread? Military ammo is not sold as surplus because its to "dangerous" to give to their troops. Some of it is obsolete like 303 and 8mm Mauser or for weapons that nation no longer uses. ( 7.62x54R and 7.62x39 Former...

    303 British Ammo

Hangfires seem to be a common issue with old .303. Most are only a split second. I personally have not had a hangfire longer then a couple seconds and I've fired ammo that was MUCH older then POF 303. Try 1920's British Kynoch 8x50R Lebel. They can be dangerous if one is ignorant of proper...

My 138 year old Swiss Vetterli

There was a model 1869 in pretty rough condition for a Swiss Vetterli that sold for $600 at a local auction.... I know that model is uncommon but that price was nuts IMHO.

    For Garand Owners

Here are some pictures of the 7mm ammo. The bullets cleaned up better than I thought they would. Shoot decently as well.

    For Garand Owners

I would be surprised if the above cartridges fired at all but apparently it sometimes can! I pulled apart several hundred rounds of 1913 7mm Mauser in similar condition and just for the hell of it try to set the primers off. They had been destroyed by the acid from the deteriorating powder...

    For Garand Owners

Looks like a complete case head failure on that M1. I personally don't shoot the older surplus in semi auto rifles. I regularly shoot ammo from the 30s and some even older, but only in bolt action rifles with good gas venting capabilities. I have a couple hundred rounds of loose 1918 dated US...

    For Garand Owners

Powder was a round flake type. The odor coming off of it was so bad that I could smell the ammo from 8ft away before I pulled them apart. The powder was a dull gray and some was clumped together.

Here's a WW1 8x50R round that literally shattered when I pulled it apart.

    For Garand Owners

The first sign of deterioration in my experience is clumped up powder. If you shake the cartridge and can't here the powder moving that's a bad sign. Gas build up causes the brass to split sometimes and corrosion on the exterior begins. The inside of the case is already heavily corroded at this...

    For Garand Owners

I would shoot that ammo. As long as the powder isn't deteriorating It should be fine. Just looks like surface corrosion. I'd send it down range in my M1917. The ammo will have a strong acidic smell and corrosion around the case mouth or primer pocket if the powder is bad.

    Where did all AK-74 go?

Not alot of demand for rifles in this cartridge after 7N6 was banned. It's a very niche rifle and cartridge now. As stated above, most were built off parts kits that are now extinct.

    Hungarian .22 training rifle

Romanian 1969 is on my list of rifles to acquire. They are neat little rifles. I've taken a renewed interest in 22LR lately. Now that the ammo is plentiful and cheap again.

    Hungarian .22 training rifle

Picked up this WW2 era Hungarian trainer recently. Pre 1945 Hungarian firearms are one of my collecting interests. This fits in nicely with my 35M and 43M rifles. This particular trainer is the 38M model.

    SKS cleaning question?

When it comes to doubling, it's not a problem as long as your firing pin moves freely. Shake the bolt to check. Unless your bolt is full of cosmoline, it should't be an issue.

    SKS cleaning question?

Are you referring to the take down lever at the rear of the receiver? The SKS is easy to clean. Can you post pictures of the problem?

    Shot my Type 99

For anyone who has the chance to fire a 6.5 Type 38 they should definitely do so. They are very pleasant to shoot and fairly accurate at 100 yards. I literally could shoot one all day. I have the loading dies for 7.7 but need to find a decent Type 99 long rifle for myself.
