    Scoping a lever rifle

I do plan to put a scout scope or dot on mine because I want to make it as functional and useful as possible and while it might look better without it is of much more use to me with.

    New Rossi 454C

I have to say it has a couple imperfections but overall I am very happy with it. I am still awaiting the true moment of truth when I hit the range with it but it feels great in hand and is every bit the equal of the Ruglins I have handled. The stock fit is the biggest flaw I see

    Rossi 454 casull

I have just purchased a new on but it does not have the tube load option only the side gate. I have not shot it yet but it is a nice little rifle. The 454C loads I have are about .030 -.050 too long to fit in the gate but cycle when I drop them into the action, it is the MP 340 bullet.

    Turret press options

When the primers flowed out of the factory I would load and shoot 100-200 big bore pistol a week so not a high volume shooter. I love the Lee Classic Turret all I need and I have had good luck with the priming system on it as well. I like the auto advance too, you just have to make sure to do...

    Nerve damage from revolvers?

I will have to say the BFR Bisley grip is wonderful for heavy recoil, large hands and user friendliness as it does not bite my knuckles even with potent loads. I was getting and have a small knot on my middle finger from the Ruger Bisley grip with much more sedate loads.

iron sites & red dots: does one help the other?

I have decided to start putting Ultradot tube sights and a scope on my 454 for all my hunting and iron sights for range toys ( easier to shoot long range with) and laser sights on home/self defense. Saying that one helps the other can’t say, but I do know that it helps with lessening eye sight...

    Ruger Blackhawk - Modifications

Check out RW grip frames if you want a more custom grip frame, if you want more hand room he makes a BFR style Bisley that I really like.

    300wsm vs270win

Like all things carry the one you like best, for deer and like there is not enough difference to make a difference. I settled on a .270 years ago and Sold or traded off all my bigger rifles. I have had to do some tracking but usually not far I have had many more bang/flops than tracking. I...

    Primer & powder life

I am shooting some Hercules 2400 that was not kept climate controlled and was purchased in the early 80’s, 8 pounds in a cardboard cylinder and was given to me and shoots great.

    Intro

Welcome to THR, I love my revolvers as well. I prefer big bore single actions but do have a couple Super RedHawks and snubbies for cc.

    200 yards with the 44

I have shot to 200 several times, the guy I shoot with some talked me into it and it was a lot of fun. It really helps to have a spotter though and for me I need a rest to hit about as much as he hits freehand.

    Zero 240 grain bullets!

I was referring to the 240 grain 44 bullets the original poster used. I know they are fairly heavy in the jacket.

    Zero 240 grain bullets!

I always liked Zero bullets but knew you had to lean on them to get much expansion, good to see a recovered one

    Handgun For Dangerous Game

So I take it , that by your reasoning using saami specs only defines a cartridge, so a 500 Linebaugh doesn’t exist?

Single action grips with some grip

I found that a good tight pair of deerskin gloves to be great. When I shoot down here in Alabama in the middle of summer my everything sweats and the gloves are great for grip.

Seeking advice on buying a 44 mag revolver

Were I to be starting today I would get the BFR Bisley in all my single action guns. I know they are a tad heavier but for my hand size that grip frame is awesome. With the revolver itself you can feed it anything within sane levels.
