I also want a good Plinker 9mm Revolver

Every active member of my club reloads their own ammo. Some also reloads 9mm. A Magtech 9mm 124gr FMJ round costs from 3.59 and up. Equally, a Magtech .38S 148gr FMJ round, 6.06 and up. Cap, projectile and powder, 9mm and .38S, 2.31. I normally run through 100 - 150 rounds on an average day...

I also want a good Plinker 9mm Revolver

I'd suggest a Manurhin MR73, despite what it costs. They come in various barrel lengths as .38/.357, a 9mm cylinder being optional. Try one and you'll understand why.

Tell me about revolvers for my 15 year old daughter

I see lots of nice suggestions here, yet if it was up to me, I'd begin at the other end. Is she short or tall, fat or slim, strong or weak, clumsy or nimble? What fits her hands, which barrel length, caliber, weapon weight and trigger weight does she prefer? As you've already gotten her...

I found myself an old 1911 but have no clue what I got.

It's been a busy summer and no time for play, yet wife eventually returned home with son from working abroad and I finally got to lay my clammy hands on a few springs for my Colt. A 10 lb, 16 lb and 18 lb, as well as a couple of new buffs. I ordered and paid for a set of springs from local...

    What doesn't interest you?

I'm not interested in being shot by anything mentioned above, or anything else for that matter. Beyond that, until I get to learn how to handle them, I'll also stay clear of revolvers more powerful than .44 magnum.

    Polish revolvers

There's an early thread here. There are also a few other mentions, but nothing substantial. Beyond that, I found two videos, in Polish. I'm friends with a Polish family living nearby, but they aren't gun people, and they hadn't even heard of the brand. They're leaving for Poland next week...

    Polish revolvers

I accidentally stumbled across Gward today, does anyone know anything about them?

    Brass catcher

Due to competition rules in my country (Norway), the only brass catchers allowed here are fixed to the gun in some manner. Thus, I've been looking at one particular model found at Brownell's and delivered by E&L Manufacturing. I found just one lousy video about it on Youtube, and certainly not...

    Brass catcher

Does anyone have experience with such devices? I wonder if it's worth while putting one on my Colt 1911.

I found myself an old 1911 but have no clue what I got.

Perhaps a good idea to ask him if he still has the old parts laying around somewhere. I'll do that. I bought a battered motorbike 30 years ago. Back then I kept it as it was, just keeping it in good working order, but later I decided to return it to stock. Finding the parts isn't easy though...

I found myself an old 1911 but have no clue what I got.

I bought the gun, well knowing I might find something I'd want to fix before putting it to good use. Popping by the local gunsmith yesterday, I was informed that what's left of the recoil spring measures to around 9 lb. Sufficient for previous owner's loads together with the added plastic...

I found myself an old 1911 but have no clue what I got.

Yup, all gun retailers carry them. Just never labelled 11,45 mm. A quick browse through local second hand market gives me this, at time of writing, 3 working Kongsberg Colts and 1 that's rendered useless (plombert).

I found myself an old 1911 but have no clue what I got.

I got to play a little with a Pardini GT9 last year and did fairly well. Owner told me the GT45 is just as target happy. Yet one will at least cost 7 to 10x more. I checked. No Walmart in Norway, and Brownells in Norway only have Flitz microfiber cloth and tumbler media. Anyhow, there's a...

I found myself an old 1911 but have no clue what I got.

A mate just told me there are easier guns to shoot than the 1911. A cousin let me know that no good home is complete without one, so he has 4, including a 1914 Kongsberg. Either way, I expect to get more enjoyment out of it than I paid for.

It's presently around $35,- Money wise it costs more, according to hamburger index, it's more or less the same. Might as well order it right away.

Alas not available here in Norway. I'll ask for recommendations at the local gun shop and the nearby gunsmith. Thanks for the offer. Quick check at local Brownells tells me I'll probably get both springs for less than the cost of shipping from Missouri alone. I know which loads, powder...

I found myself an old 1911 but have no clue what I got.

I wish to know the benefits of what's done to it. I take it the added mag well makes magazine switching easier and the magazine rubber protects it from being dropped. I assume the trigger work is done to perfectly fit former owner's finger, 'cause it sure doesn't fit mine. The altered thumb...

I found myself an old 1911 but have no clue what I got.

Your wish is my command. I paid $ 250,- for it with a homemade shoulder holster, so I ain't complaining. No extra springs or other parts. Previous owner is a long time member of my local gun club and well up in his -70s. Having decided to slow down a bit, he's selling off some of his...

I'll give it a thorough cleaning when I have time.

New in 1994, seems tight. I just don't know what to look at, what to look for, how to assess it, other than that it's worth what i paid. Previous owner told me he'd been feeding it a steady diet of 175 grs SWC, WC edge flush with shell, and 4.5 grs Vihtavuori N-320.
