    Reliable low cost semi-auto

Tri Star Viper shoots great with anything factory loaded, comes with shims for adjustment. Looks good and is inexpensive but of good quality. That's my vote. JW

    Clean that shotgun without smell!

Tried that, said it smells like a wet dead dog! Whatever a dead wet dog smells like, I took that as unfavorable.

    Entry level Over Under

I have been following this thread with great interest as I was looking for the same shotgun only in a 20ga. The answer I came up with is a CZ Teal which now has 6000+ rounds thru it and was well under $1000.00 dollars. My wife just bought me another CZ Woodcock which is basically the same gun...

    Entry level Over Under

As far as CZ goes I have a 20 O/U that I shoot skeet with and also use it for practice and I really like it. I have several of their rifles and liked them so when I wanted a 20 that's what I bought, it is the G2 version done by CNC, wood fit is good shoots where I point it. So far probably only...

MEC 650 and reclaimed lead problem solved

Yes my MEC charge bars have rubber inserts, and in speaking to a friend of mine who is a competitive skeet shooter He relayed the same concern with reclaimed lead. His answer was to buy the rubber inserts by the handful and change them often. We are using reclaimed lead as it is all we can get...

MEC 650 and reclaimed lead problem solved

I load a lot of 20 gauge and currently am using reclaimed shot as it is available. The charge bar wanted to hang up and if I did not see it I would wind up with a shell without powder and the one before it without shot. Once I figured out what was happening I started watching the charge bar very...

    Semi-Auto selection

I have 2 Tri Star Vipers a.410 bore and a 20ga both work well and come with shim kits for stock adjustments, I know they are not popular but they do work well, and handle any ammunition put in them. Break them in with a box of heavy loads clean it and go have fun. JW

    Clean that shotgun without smell!

Many of us are blessed with a spouse who has a great distaste for the smell of gun cleaning solvents, me included. Being fairly new to skeet shooting I learned quickly about plastic in shotgun barrels, and most of the cleaning fluids I tried had limited effect, some worked but took soaking...

    Barrel has lead buildup.

Copper Chore Boy pot scrubber wraped around a bronze brush will take whatever out of your barrel, just make sure it is copper chore boy, test with magnet to be sure. JW

Does anybody use Longshot for .410 loads

Working on some .410 1/2 oz loads for .410 with 444 marlin brass. Alliant website uses their 410 powder for their load data and I see on the burnrate chart that Longshot is right above it, which I have on hand. So I am curious as to whether anyone else has tried this for .410 powder? I know...

1911's - are they THAT finicky?

I like my 1911's they are perfectly reliable for me, but they will not hold 17rds. So I carry some thing that will! Is that because I am a poor shot? No it is because if I am in the situation where I need to use my sidearm I like to have alot of ammunition available. Never have I said darn I...

    SR9 and SR9C

SR9 and security 9 a like ? NO security 9 has a completely different trigger. I have both, and the security 9 stays in the safe personally for accurate shooting I need a pistol with a trigger that has a breaking point, the security 9 doe's not have one. I spent many hundred rounds of ammo trying...
