Henry Single Shot Rifle and Shotgun recall notice

I shipped two of my three rifles on Sept 14. The third one was shipped on Sept 22. I got all three back, together in one box, today, Oct 8. The trigger improvements are very noticeable, but I don't have a gauge. The gunsmith who modified my 357 sent an email that Henry had agreed to honor the...

Did they say/do anything about the plum coloration of the receiver?

Henry Single Shot Rifle and Shotgun recall notice

My H015-44 rifle's receiver is "plummed" just like that. It's also a very low serial number; less than 50. Another interesting note; the checkering on the fore-end wraps completely around the bottom. It is not like that on my 45-70 and 38/357 models.

Henry Single Shot Rifle and Shotgun recall notice

I have three H015 single shot rifles and have contacted Henry about returning them for the recall. I got a reply today that they will be sending shipping boxes. My 38/357 rifle has been modified; it's chamber has been reamed out to 357 Maximum. Does anyone know if that's going to be an issue if...

    S&W No Dash Model 36

I have that same gun. It was my grandfathers everyday carry gun, so, it’s a bit more worn than yours. I admired it my whole life growing up, and especially after seeing him shoot it one day when I was still a boy! I’m still impressed when I remember how accurate he was with that snub nose!

    Help identify these tools

Please help identify these tools. Who makes/made them? Are they still made? They are for lubing and sizing cast bullets, right? Anyone have the instructions that would have come with them?

    45-70

I also shoot an H&R Handi-Rifle in 45-70. My 45-70 load is almost exactly the same as yours: H4198 with 300 gr. Hornady jacketed soft-point bullet. I worked up loads; 5 each, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, & 55 gr. and shot them over my chronograph. When I got to the 55 gr. load, my average velocity was...

New 45 Colt Brass too short?

Ahhh Yesss, the LeveRevolution cases. I should have thought of that, as I have run into that issue before with 45-70 Hornady cases. The factory rep told me the cases were shorter so that ammo loaded with the LeveRevolution bullets would cycle reliably in lever action rifles. Would that be the...

New 45 Colt Brass too short?

I recently purchased 100 new Hornady 45 Colt brass. They measure 1.228" (average) with my caliper. Once fired Winchester brass measures 1.274" (average). The short case is evident in the photo with the Lee case trimmer and lock stud, the 45 Colt trimmer is bottomed-out against the lock stud, and...

    Got Busted Saturday.....

I got busted too... Don't sweat it; just chalk it up to experience. I got busted too, last Saturday evening, and I have 35 years of deer hunting experience! I was in a ladder stand in the woods and got a bit bored. I started fooling around with my rangefinder when I should have been still. I...

A pictoral tribute to my most valued hog hunting partners

Hunting with Jadg's H&H, Here is a photo of a 240# boar taken while hunting @ Three Rivers WMA in Louisiana with Mr. Buddy Goatcher (Goatcher Wildlife Solutions) back in February of this year. It was my first time hunting with Jadg's and was quite an experience. This hog had been held bayed...

    Lee Perfect Powder Measure

Just got one of these; about $20 from MidwayUSA, used it for the first time this past weekend. I was loading for .308 Win, and got to use it with three different powders; RE-15, H335, & BL-C(2). Worked great! Accurate, fast, and does what it is supposed to do at less cost than any of the...

    Does your Christmas include taxidermy?

Maybe I'm just weird, but I didn't appreciate it when my wife decorated my trophy mounted deer heads one Christmas. While I didn't make a great big deal out of it, I didn't think it was funny or cute. Some kind of weird respect I feel for the animal I took. I tried to explain to her how I felt...
