    Buying a Colt SAA

The colt saa is one of the guns that I REALLY want to add to my collection. I have been doing some research and looking for awhile now. 1st generation- definitely too expensive- read: WAY EXPENSIVE. 2nd generation- still a bit too pricey for a shooter 3rd gen: I have mainly been looking...

So I went to a gun show...

hmmm... this all makes me think that great gunshows are like great people... ...that they are kinda rare... meaning we deal with less than desirable people most of our lives, so that when we meet or have the pleasure of knowing one of the good ones- we truly appreciate them for what they...

    What was your first handgun?

The first handgun I bought myself: A Ruger speed six, one of the ones with the 'made in the 200th year of our liberty' stamped on it. Yup, still got it, but don't shoot it anymore. I actually traded a couple firearms recently and pulled it out and looked at it- to remind me that it is one...

    Ruger Redhawk .41 Magnum

yep, I agree- I have a Smith 57 that I really like (got if for a steal) and bought the .41 Redhawk (stainless), because I figured that would be the one to take hunting in poor weather- plus I liked the idea of getting it for a good price, considering they aren't made anymore. I got mine a...

    Cold Steel on eBay

Don't let the low prices on factory made items scare you from ebay. If anything, you can get them even LOWER than some of the prices on ebay. A lot of those sellers are dealers who may also have a shop, do shows, and also sell on ebay. They are making money because of volume. For instance...

    sheath needed

Thinking about the Chris Reeve Green Beret knife- the "Yarborough" I normally do not like 'tactical' knives, but I like this one, and am thinking about making a 'user' out of it. However, the sheath it comes with will have to GO. Does anyone know where I could get a leather sheath, or point...

    .45LC Anaconda

I too really like the anaconda in 45Colt. I have seen 2 6"ers in my area recently- both were right around $800. I have certainly seem them priced higher. A few months ago, I did see one of the 4" models. I believe I could have picked that up for about $1200.00 Should have done it, because...

    Redhawk 41 Mag

I may have slightly overpaid for mine, but it was in excellent shape- 5.5" stainless. It came off of one of the auction sites, and my FFL said it was the only gun that EVER came in, that he offered to buy from the original buyer... so, after you figure shipping and my FFL fee, it was just a...

    Smith revives the model 58

I know the 58 is a great gun- and sometimes it seems that it is favored above a model 57. Now, I am certainly not knocking anyone's preferences- Lord knows I've got some strange ones myself... I am just curious- if the price and condition was fairly equal- Would you prefer a 58 OVER a 57?

Anyone here actually USE a Randall Knife?

I do agree that stag looks great on display- but I like it so much that I think it suits all applications. For a knife that I would carry, use on game, use camping, always have handy when backpacking- I would like that knife to have stag, simply because of how it looks and the aspect of it...

Anyone here actually USE a Randall Knife?

This was a very nice topic to come across... I got the 'Randall bug' a couple years ago, and bought a number of knives. I REALLY like stag, so nearly all of them were stag models. A number of them I bought, and said- "This is the ONE that I will use and it will accompany me on many...

    What pistols do you collect?

I REALLY like older smiths- for example pinned and recessed N-frames. It is also hard to pass up old model Ruger's and anything in 41 mag. I wish I could afford to 'collect' colt saa's-- but I am currently trying to decide which one/caliber I want, for 1 saa is all I will probably every buy.

Saw a nice Model 57 today

Hey- what a great idea ! Yeah, S&W N-frames are actually pretty lame- I don't think I would give over $200 for any of 'em- no matter what the condition... and old model rugers- man, they gotta be going for $200 or even less, cause I don't think anyone really has any interest in them...

Saw a nice Model 57 today

I would drop $500 in a sec. for a really nice blued 57. Three years ago I paid ~$425 for one that wasn't perfect, and was pinned but not recessed. Prices for most things are 'ok' where I live, but people seem to know and seek out rarer things, even if they aren't that interested in the...

    Some thoughts on the .41mag

I also really like the .41 mag. It may very well be my favorite caliber. Definitely tied with the .45colt for favorite revolver caliber. If you are looking for a woods gun- try the tracker. I like mine A LOT. I think you would find the Raging Bull to be a bit too large for a woods gun.

    Target vs. Plinking

I feel really bad about this, but I really need to spend some time putting some of my guns on paper in order to see what they will really do... Most of the time is spent plinking, even more so now that I recently discovered a source of cheap bowling pins.... argghh- can't this monday move...
