Walther PDP - Pretty Damn Phenomenal

Haha bc, maybe you know me too well at this point? I’m still probably going to get the revolver(s), but I have been thinking long and hard about a steel framed Walther! There’s one for sale at my LGS and the owner kinda wants to move it along. For some reason I don’t understand, Walther sales...

    Colt Trooper MKIII opinions?

Thanks Guys! It’s a 6” and I suppose I’d prefer the 4” if I had my druthers, but a phrase about a gift horse definitely applies here. Mark Mark, it is blued - I had an electroless nickel one back in the day and foolishly traded it away on something I can’t even remember anymore, shrug. The store...

    Colt Trooper MKIII opinions?

I am so thankful guys! This sounds like a good buy. Mark, it’s well under $1k so I’m pretty comfortable. I hope to get it tomorrow!

    Colt Trooper MKIII opinions?

That’s a great testimonial Slamfire, thank you! The lockup is different on these guns - more S&W like? This particular example doesn’t have the “bank vault” characteristic but it’s very very good, more like a S&W so I’m curious. Somewhere many years ago I read that dry firing these guns is not...

    Opinions on a Colt D.A. 38?

I would not buy a vintage Colt without markings. Could the rollmark have been missed at the factory? Possibly, not likely. So what’s the story? There are no good or provable answers for that, such as a Colt archive letter that says “serial number xxx was shipped without patent date markings.”...

    New Blue Python BROKE! ugghh

My Korth doesn’t mind my crappy reloads but it has become sluggish when I am “cylinder dumping” and heating it up like a yahoo.

    Colt Trooper MKIII opinions?

Hi All: One of the surprises I came by in a little-visited LGS today was a Colt Trooper MKIII, 6”, .357. It’s in 98% condition with just the faintest trace of edge wear at the muzzle. Has the old wood-grained cardboard box and inserts. It’s been fired, but sparingly. Blue looks great, not...

Walther PDP - Pretty Damn Phenomenal

Hi All: I have LOTS of guns on my to-buy list, and one of the longest-dwelling on that list is the Walther PDP. I had heard great things about it’s trigger, accuracy and reliability. So I had occasion to wander in to a lesser-visited LGS today and the owner had just gotten in a boatload of new...

    624 3” vs 625 MTN .45 Colt?

.44 Magnum? Love it. I’d get one if I could find one locally. It’s funny - sometimes it’s the really small details that getcha. I love the chamfering on the front of the cylinder on the mountain guns. It really adds an element of class and harkens back to revolvers of old.

    624 3” vs 625 MTN .45 Colt?

I think I will get the Mountain Gun but I’ll take a hard look at the 22 .45ACP. It’s a lot less expensive than the Lew Horton 624 so I might be able to swing both.

    624 3” vs 625 MTN .45 Colt?

Haha! Good show, Sir. I like the wadcutters and have recently discovered the joy of a DEWC in .44 Special, .44 Magnum and .45 Colt. Weirdly and inexplicably, I don’t handload for .45ACP (though I have the dies). Do you size those to .451 or .452? Also, what’s the middle bullet? I like the look...

    624 3” vs 625 MTN .45 Colt?

Thanks everybody! It looks like the Mountain Gun is in the lead. It’s definitely the most practical choice for me, of the two. The Lew Horton .44 is a sexy beast but hot damn, a 4” .45 Colt DA sixgun just sounds better. I’m still obsessing but I still have a couple of days to concretize my...

Taurus hit a Grand Slam with this gun.

Very cool… so at 40oz, does it have a steel frame?

I want both, really! Leaning now towards the Mountain Gun…

Bravo, Sir! A total find. Colt’s last “service” .38 revolver?

    624 3” vs 625 MTN .45 Colt?

Thanks everyone! This is a toughie, and it seems this is a toughie for all of you, too! As I mentioned in my introductory post, the use will be for range shooting and woods carry with my dogs (I do 10 mile hikes a few times a week). I have a Charter Arms 3” Bulldog which I love out of all...

    624 3” vs 625 MTN .45 Colt?

Good day to you all: I beg you to share your musings on the above confrontation. One of my honey-holes just got in the two like-new revolvers and, as much as I would like to acquire both, I may not be able to as I’m starting a new business. Anyway, here we go: 1) S&W 624, 3”, Lew Horton...

    Two of S&W best ever

Ok, ok! Here’s my second fave: It’s a plain-Jane 67-1, which used to be my Dad’s bedside gun. I gussied it up with a pair of Keith Brown Ropers, which are my favorite. It’s a service revolver that thinks it’s a target gun, and it’ll just about hang with my Pythons. My pet load of a Rim Rock...
