Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

^^^^^ Certainly true where I am. Vultures and Coyotes readily consume all the hogs I can make available. I literally have a 'bone yard'. I have noticed over the years... 'Black Vultures' becoming more numerous than the 'Turkey Vultures' and that they are a significantly more aggressive bird.

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

I'm sure it varies one locale to another, but where I live the carcass will be consumed by Vultures and Coyotes withing 48 hours (often times less). Hard to imagine a better process than that (burial). But I can envision circumstances where a carcass might linger and make for an unpleasant...

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

Just checking in guys. Been killing hogs off and on since my last visit here, but been very busy doing other things and not much time to write. Absolutely had to go hunt this evening though. I just planted a bunch of Oats yesterday (food plot for deer) despite having a group of hogs coming in...

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

Really frustrating at times. This small group of (small) hogs just can not be 'patterned'. Everything they do is 'random'. From the number of hogs in the group, to the time in which they come to the bait site. They might show up at 9:00 p.m. one night and then 5:00 in the morning the next...

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

Exactly. The smaller pigs almost always 'pull up' or veer off at the last second. The bigger guys are playing for keeps and if not for the wire panels would be right up in your back pocket.

Yes, sorry. Just been really busy. Still killing hogs as I have time. I will try to post more often. Doubt I can offer anything that hasn't already been discussed....but I can relate the story of how it happened if anyone is still interested in that kind of thing. Take care all.

    Illegally using Dogs for Deer

Interesting. So....are you saying you will simply ignore/discard any and all State, Local, Federal laws you don't like? Serious question?

Not sure where this belongs...but what happened last night!

Never heard that before either (Coyotes not pack animals) but it wouldn't surprise me to know that many people might not be aware of that. I see an equal number of lone coyotes and groups/packs of them numbering from pairs to 6-8.....but they are certainly pack animals.

    TTSX vs. TSX terminal performance

Similar performance using the 300 gr TSX (.458 diameter) from my SOCOM. All the below recovered from Feral Hogs. They don't expand like jacketed soft points of course (also shown) but they DO hold together well and expand reliably. I'm pushing them at about 1800 fps muzzle velocity. Most...

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

He was sort of all scarred up. He was with a group of pigs (about 8 others) and at one point I had to make a choice to shoot a couple that had 'lined up' or shoot the Boar. By the time I made up my mind to shoot the pair, they moved apart and never got back exactly how I needed them to be...

Glad everything and everyone is OK. I bet those pigs were looking for a safe place to go. Too bad it had to be on your place. Got rid of one more last night.

So.....checking the game camera on that site...shows a small group of pigs. The last Sow to walk in....is clearly about to give birth to a litter and the one in front of her looks to have some 'on board' as well. These are fairly young animals....which goes to show why the population is as...

Time to go to work again....I guess. I've had this kinda 'Lanky' Boar hanging around one of the feeders the past few days. And now a few young Sows have shown up as well. Of course, he is busy 'checking' to see if any are in estrous. Don't need them making any more of themselves.
