    Ruger customer service

On 12/31 I purchased a ruger 10/22 target lite to shoot rimfire challenge. On 1/1/23 I unwrapped it to install the sight base and noted a 1&1/2 in crack at the nose of the fore end. I took pictures and sent them via email to Ruger's customer service. At 10:47AM on 1/2/23 I received an email from...

    Hats off to Jackrabbit1957

I have always had a liking for the look and feel of the Colt open top pocket models particularly the 1862 Police. However I have always hated working on them because Uberti, who is the only game in town, does not put as much attention into their representation of the pocket models and they need...

    Beretta warranty service

Has anyone had to use Beretta's warranty service. If so how long did it take? I bought a Beretta Tomcat .32 back in March. It failed on the 8th round when the tip of the triggerbar fractured off disabling double action. Beretta requires you send in warranty work through the dealer where...

    George Washington Flintlock Pistols

I have been wanting a set of these pistols for quite some time and was lucky enough to have some extra cash when this set came up on gunbroker. There were 975 sets of these produced starting back in 1976 under the auspicies of the U.S. Bi-Centential Society that morphed into the U.S. Historical...

    New Crosman DPMS SBR Awesome!!!

I've spent most of the evening playing with my new Crosman DPMS SBR full auto BB rifle. I have owned most of the full auto firearm BB clones but this one has them all beat. Looks and feels like a real M4. Fire controls are the same. 430fps with Daisy zink plated BBs and 445pps with Hornady black...

New Hege Siber Lookout 10 Ring

I have wanted a Hege Siber for years. I couldn't quite swing the $750 cost for the basic pistol back in the early 1980s and I sure couldn't afford the $3000 for the U.S. Historical Gold Medal edition. Every time I have seen one come up on the auction sites, which is not often, I've been beaten...

Different take on Lyman's Plains Pistol

A few weeks ago, on a whim and because it was cheap, I bought a Lyman's Plains Pistol kit on gunbroker. I made a few changes. Shortened the barrel, reshaped the patent breech, shortened the grip etc. Didn't turn out too bad. What do you think?

    Anyone recognize this flintlock pistol?

I picked this up at an auction. It was listed as possibly India manufacture which I knew right away to be incorrect. The lock is engraved Dublin Castle and the crown and GR are engraved also. The barrel is 58 caliber and has the proof marks shown that I haven't been able to identify. The pistol...

Heads up on BP revolver tool

I came across this a few years ago while wondering around a Harbor Frieght and thought it might be useful for gunsmithing BP revolvers as something is always getting stuck. Most notably nipples. It is a 1/4"drive impact driver and as such you can use the bits from your gunsmithing screwdriver...

Heads up to PMR-30 owners looking for a holster

Recently Sportsmans Guide had the military M-12 flap holsters in new condition for $20 so I ordered one as it looked like it might fit my Kel Tec PMR-30 and I hadn't wanted to pay $45 for a used one on eBay. Well it fits like it was made for it. I thought to order a few more but SG was sold out...

    Anyone recognize this 22mag cylinder?

I acquired this cylinder in a box of misc. gun show stuff and am having a problem identifying what brand it might be from. It is 22mag six shot and the cartridge heads are recessed. I thought initially that it might be for a Colt frontier scout or peacemaker and it does fit the frame perfectly...

    H&B Duelers

Just recently scored another set of the Hamilton Burr Duelers put out by the American Historical Society in the early 80's and made by Uberti. These are very high quality and historically accurate. 2000 sets were made and in 1981 they cost $3195 equivalent to about $14,000 today. As an...

    Leonard Day Flint swivel breech

Any one have a ballpark figure on value, dollar wise. It is an early gun from the 70's no frills used but not abused. One rifled and one smoothbore barrels. Thanks for any assistance.

Bullets for Smith Carbine Cheap Mold Trick

I'd been looking for a mold for .515 diameter bullets around 350 to 375 gr for my Smith Carbine without paying an arm and a leg. I was watching Wend at the range on the Outdoor Channel and Larry Potterfield was showing how he modified a Lee mold and it was a neat simple idea. I picked up a...

    Shooting slugs in SXS Doubles

Wondering if anyone besides me has played around with getting slugs to shoot to the same point of aim in SXS doubles? I've had excellent luck with a pair of 20Ga coach guns getting them to shoot both barrels into 4" at 60yds. Not so much luck with 12Ga but I still have some different loads to try.

    Remington cylinder binding. Solution????

One of the most reported problems with the 58 Remington design is binding of the cylinder from fouling buildup on the base pin. Colt addressed this problem in the 1862 open top and SAA with a gas ring. Of course that is not possible with the Remington design short of reducing the cylinder...

    Anyone read the latest Backwoodsman?

Latest issue of Backwoodsman has an article entitled Cap and Ball revolver ballistics. Interesting from the standpoint of what you might be able to get away with and not hurt yourself or destroy your gun. A for instance the author reports nearly 1100fps in a Remington 1858 44 with a Lee 200gr...

    Pinning the full cock notch.

I had mentioned in a previous thread that I was going to pin the full cock notches in my Pietta Hickok revolvers becuase the trigger pull, while smooth and light, was loooong. Junkman and others asked for a tutorial on how I do this. So here it is. One caveat this does not lighten the pull so...

    New respect for taser

The Sheriff's Office I retired from and am currently an auxilliary with just went with the X26 Taser so I had to take the training night before last. I was not particularly interested as when I was full time we had carried the X50 stun guns for a few years and my experience was that they worked...
