The SIG P220 will do what you're asking. One of the most accurate out of the box .45 acp pistols. Don't discount a good deal on a used P220. Some of the older pistols are not only good deals, but have a bit smoother action.
That gun will likely get you between $550 and $700 depending on how desperate the buyer is for a stainless slide. The spare barrel is worth $100 to $150, again depending on the motivation of the buyer. At least that is what I've been seeing used USP Compacts going for in online postings...
I'm sure the SIG will prove to have been more accurate. It's going to be hard to beat the Hammerili that SIG imported. However, from a longevity and support standpoint, the Ruger has it beat. I wanted to make sure I had a .22 that I would always be able to rely on and support over the years...
I decided I would sell my Trailside which I have had since they came out.
I really liked the way it shot and the light weight, but I always had concerns about it's longevity, especially with HV .22 ammo. I found a local buyer and sold it Thursday last week.
In thinking about what to...
You can tell the AC556 from the Mini by the location of the front sight. The Mini's sight is at the front of the barrel, the AC556 has a sight mounted back (mid barrel) to allow the front sight base to be used as a bayonette lug.
I'm not sure what would be marketed as a difference between gen 1 and 2 SIG 220's in Geneva. In the US the the primary difference would be in the slides. Gen 1 slides would be made from a folded steel sheet with a welded portion forming the barrel guide and a breach block pinned into place...
How large are your hands? The USPc has a shorter reach to the trigger than the 239. On board ammo capacity is 12 verses 7 in the .40. The unloaded USPc is lighter. The SIG is slimmer through the slide.
You're going to need to hold each and see which fits you best. My Brother in Law has the...
I carry a SIG P220 on a regular basis. This is essentially a Commander sized pistol with an alloy frame. In the right holster it is not hard to conceal with the appropriate attire. I've carried it with just shorts and a T-Shirt for outerwear and felt fine about my concealment.
I use a...
I've got to say that my springer mil-spec 1911 is very reliable, fits my hand better than any other Auto I own or have tried and required zero work. I have customized it lightly after confirming it was accurate and reliable.
My only complaint is capacity and weight, but I'm not willing to give...
Yep, have a jacket fragment in my cheek from a JHP disintegrating on a steel plate and coming back to the line while I was sitting, loading a magazine. Didn't even know there was anything in my face until a year later when a Doc saw it on film while looking for something else.
I carry a SIG 220 most of the time now. Still large service auto. Comp-tac MTAC holster. Very comfortable and conceals well. However, when I do carry my 1911, it is in a COM 3 from HBE Leatherworks. The holster is similar to the Milt Sparks Versa Max II. I've had it for quite a while and...
If you like condition 1 carry and the light weight of an alloy frame, the pistol you are talking about is nearly perfect. With the improved external extractor you should be good to go. I've got an early P220R with the folded German Slide and railed frame. It has been very reliable. Saying...
The Omega is the easy option and it is gaining a reputation as a light and correctly dimensioned rail. That it is easy to install and priced competitively with other rail systems makes it more attractive. No special tools needed to install it.
I've seen used ones going for good prices in the...
You can order your frames from Caspian with custom serial numbers. Caspian is the supplier most custom gunsmiths are going to use for your frame anyway. If you want to save some time and work, you can order your frame and slide as a set with many custom options already done from Caspian...
My understanding is those factory folding stocks are bringing a premium these days. $600 may not be a great deal for a mini 14, but it may be a great deal for a mini with a factory folder. Check the auction board and the ruger forum to see what these are going for.
If you decide to go the trust route, you may want to look into authoring your own trust documents using Quicken Willmaker. It is $39.99 for the download and will print out the documents you need to have notarized to create your trust.
Yes it is that simple and it is legal. If you have family...
The 220 Combat is more built up in the dust cover area and the rails are machined to a true pitcany (I know I spelled that one wrong) spec. The 220R has a version of the rail that is not as beefy and isn't quite spec. It is good enough that most items fit, but it isn't true to the specs...
I looked at these and really liked the feel. The only concern I had was the short tube giving up too much velocity?
If your load of choice checks out in the short barrel, I can't see how this would be a bad rifle. The other thing to think about, is that this is essentially the Ruger Frontier...
