    Ruger American Predator AICS issue

Update- I received the replacement RA Predator magwell several weeks ago but never tried it. The reason for that is, after I figured out what the issue was all that was needed was a drop of JB Weld in the right place. That one drop prevents the mag from riding too high into the magwell which...

Poll: How long have you been reloading?

I started around 1976 with a single 45 ACP die Lee loader and used the Lee powder dippers. Later I upgraded to a RCBS Jr. I still have it and use it occasionally. Still works great.

    Ruger American Predator AICS issue

I called Ruger today and spoke with a very nice lady. I explained everything to her and she listened without interrupting which was nice. After explaining my problem she said that I could send it in to have the techs look at it. I suggested that since the magwell was modular that if she sent me...

    Ruger American Predator AICS issue

The mag really can’t be any higher because the bolt would jam against the back of the mag. The back of the mag being too low is not the problem. It’s that the mag catch is strong enough that it pushes the front of the mag up into the mag well too high. This raises the tip of the cartridge too...

    Ruger American Predator AICS issue

Thanks. Demi- the mag catch got me to thinking. The catch spring is so strong that it will actually push the front of the mag up, even with the extra weight if loaded. I may have to pull the spring out and see if I can “relax” it a little to see if that helps.

    Ruger American Predator AICS issue

I recently bought an American Predator in 6mm Creedmoor with factory AICS magazine setup and I’m having a problem. Maybe somebody can help. The mag that came with the rifle is a Ruger factory 3 round AICS. 3 rounds go into the mag easily. It also easily inserts into the rifle and locks into...

    Car/Gun Security

I've had a permanently mounted safe (lock box) in my pickups since 1995 so I can lock up my handgun or others valuables when I need to. My latest safe is from Lock'er Down that's mounted inside of my console. A thief can get into it if given enough time but would tear up everything else to do it.

    Ruger LCR Preferred Loads

The more I read about the .327 Federal the better it sounds. I've located a LCR in that caliber and will probably buy it tomorrow. I will definitely be reloading for it just as I do for everything I shoot. The only factory load I will have will be for defense carry. I'm not new(30+ years) to...

New rear sight for my Sheild

The install went smoothly. The sight is a bit over sized and I had to file it a little when fitting but I have a good snug fit but can also drift it without using a 2# hammer. I still have to shoot it to see how close I got on the windage and make any adjustments before I Loctite the little...

New rear sight for my Sheild

The Dawson rear sight is scheduled for delivery today. After I get it fitted to my Shield I'll post pics and my opinion. If it works out like I think it will, I'll be converting all of my handguns to this type of rear sight.

New rear sight for my Sheild

9mm- Thanks for the reply. The 10-8 sight looks good and I looked at those too but I already have several Dawson FO front sights and I like them. I'm not sure how blocky the Dawson is but it's always carried concealed anyway, nobody will see it. If the sight picture is sharp and I can rack...

New rear sight for my Sheild

Certain recent events that hit close to home have made me a lot more aware of what happens during an exchange of gunfire. One of these things is being able to charge a semi auto pistol one handed. The more I thought about it the more it made sense to swap the stock rear sight on my Shield to...

Fort Knox PB4 pistol safe question

Glenn, Yea, I don't think the UniStrut will work with this box but I've been thinking of different ways I might be able to secure it underneath the bed. 1.- Since the bed is low, bed risers might work. Since I don't need to raise the top all the way, just to get the gun in and out, raising...

Fort Knox PB4 pistol safe question

After doing a little more research I decided to go with the AMSEC Stealth handgun safe. In addition to the box itself being built from heavier steel than some of the others, the Simplex lock is housed in a heavy steel case. This prevents the lock from being punched out and the bolt retracted...

Fort Knox PB4 pistol safe question

Thanks Shaq. I am also looking at the AMSEC boxes. Their Simplex locks are enclosed with a steel housing and can't be punched out but as you said, more pricey, especially the ones that open from the side.

Fort Knox PB4 pistol safe question

rabid- Thanks for the reply. I'm wanting something where I can lock up my nightstand pistol (Glock 34, TLR-1 )when I don't want to put it in the big safe. From all the research I've done on the better handgun boxes, Fort Knox is one of the most secure. I plan on mounting it to the floor...

Fort Knox PB4 pistol safe question

I've been researching this pistol safe but have been unable to find how resistant it is to punching out the lock and then retracting the locking bolt. Have any of you had any experience with this safe and punch attacks on the lock? Thanks

    Canes, walking sticks, and training.

I needed a cattle cane to use on my dad's farm but after reading this thread and a few more threads on using a cane for self defense I ordered a Seymour Hickory House Handle Cane from Rural King. It came today and I can say that it's the perfect size and weight to use on both cattle and for...

    which .380

My vote is for the Keltec 3AT. I briefly had a LCP but is was slick, I couldn't hold onto it. Even though the fit and finish was excellent I sold it and got the Keltec. It's been flawless though 800+ rounds with everything I put through it including my plinking reloads.
