Drop in 9mm barrel for G22 question?

I’ve had a G17 for a few years, but I couldn’t ignore the cheap police surplus G22’s. Ended up getting a like new G22 gen4. While I like the gen3 grip on my G17, I find I really like the gen4 grip treatment, and also find it fits my hand better with no backstrap installed. While I find myself...

Federal Flite Control enhanced 12 gauge #1 buckshot loads (2.75" and 3")

Not too concerned with the pellet diameter difference. I also have a supply of Winchester SuperX #1 Buck, if needed…as well as a couple varieties of #4 Buck and, of course, 00. but what I keep my home defense shotgun loaded with is that #1 load.

Federal Flite Control enhanced 12 gauge #1 buckshot loads (2.75" and 3")

Well, my Mossberg is loaded with some of my remaining stock of the discontinued, low recoil LE #1 flight control load. I’m pretty happy with the performance of that load.

    Sheridan Blue Streak

Keep it oiled, and store it with a pump or two in it, and it will last a long time. Love mine.

Low recoil slugs - can somebody explain the difference?

Ohio used to be a slug only state. As a result, you would see ads for various slugs at sale prices every fall. I’m not a hunter, but I would stock up some slugs for self defense and range purposes at bargain prices. One I found I liked was the Federal Tru-ball low recoil, 1300fps load… Very...

    The Combat Masterpiece

After falling in love with my Model 15-3, I bought a used Model 19 with 2.5” barrel. That revolver developed a timing issue after about 200rds of American Eagle 158gn SP 357mag…not the most powerful magnum load. I had that fixed, because I really wanted to love that revolver. Shooting Magnums in...

    The Combat Masterpiece

During the great police revolver sell-off, I was at a gun show looking specifically for a Model 10. They were all over the show, going for about $175 in like new condition. When I spotted this Model 15-3 marked $200, I looked it over, and offered $175… With a handshake and cash, the deal was done.

J frame goodness VS K frame shooting

The old timers were right, when they named the Model 15 “Combat Masterpiece”…

    best 380 defense load?

I never gave 380 much thought...until I acquired a Beretta 84F. I found I like that pistol a lot. Fits my hand well, carries easily, utterly reliable...and accurate. Best 380 load for me? Underwood XTP +P...but I wouldn't lose sleep using any good jhp load.

Had a jam fest with .22’s today.

I had a TP22 when they first came out. It worked great, for a while… Then it jammed all the time. I found the slide was completely made of alloy, and the cartridge rims wore a groove in the breech face, causing the hang up. Iver had me send it in, and replaced it with a revised version that had...

    Revolvers--hurray for fixed sighted models

Fixed sights are fine, if they are regulated correctly. I had a 3” SP101 whose POA was way off from its POI. I have always felt that stretching the range with a handgun could be useful, and besides, it’s fun. My fixed sight 3” GP100 does shoot to POA. As for the Model 15…I’m a fan, and those...

Great Read on The famous Six Guns by John Taffin

Taffin gushed in a book about some smith. I found out he was local to me. Well, I had a Model 19-3 that developed a timing issue, so I gave him a call. Told me to bring it over. Old guy, seemed a little out of it, but I left my revolver with him. No contact for a month… Gave him a call at a...

Why do/did you choose a revolver as your EDC over a semiauto?

Ammunition problems will shut down a revolver. Twice, over the years I’ve seen it at the range. Once, my pal had a fresh, factory 357mag round squib the bullet half into the forcing cone…done for the day. Another time, a shooter next to me had a bullet creep far enough forward to tie up the...

Glock-type safety trigger for Norinco Tokarev.....

I have occasionally carried a 7.62 Tokarev IWB in condition 2, and felt safe doing so. One thing about the Tokarev… The combination of its short grip and overall thin profile makes it very IWB friendly.

    S&W Mod 60 3" .357

I have some of that Fiocchi FMJTC…not sure what I would shoot it at, but I would expect it to be perforated.

Glock-type safety trigger for Norinco Tokarev.....

Some of the recent Tokarev imports have been equipped with a drop in trigger with the Glock style trigger blade safety…to meet import requirements. Easier to drop a trigger in than install a safety switch (often of dubious utility). Amongst Tokarev aficionados, it is popular to exchange that...

    Beretta PX4 vs Glock 22 , both in .40S&W

One thing in favor of the G22… with all the police surplus guns out there, they can be found pretty cheap. I bought one a while back, a G22 gen4…for $279. It looked about 99% new, and has working Glock night sights. It’s my only .40. While I like the 9 just fine, have for a long time, I find I...
