Finally a chance to fire a few new-to-me guns

A few years ago, a gun-shop visit and counter conversation led to the purchase of an excellent-condition Kahr CW9; that was shortly before a move, and I kept putting off giving it a test run at the range until that long-intended outing slipped mostly out of mind. And about a month ago, I...

I love revolvers and I'm young

I bought my first revolver about 6 years ago, and I actually don't remember the exact reason why I settled on buying it; probably because I like guns that shoot "against type" (autopistols shooting "revolver cartridges" and vice versa, or handguns firing "rifle cartridges and vice versa), and I...

Outdoor ranges in Eastern TN / Knxvl area?

Hi there! I know of the indoor range atKnoxville's Coal Creek Armory (which has very reasonable summer rates, it turns out!), but I wonder if anyone can point out to me other options, outdoors especially, in eastern TN. (I'm east of Knoxville, but don't mind a drive for good reason.) In...

    Hand-fillable pre-charged airguns?

(Inspired by this thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=600564 ) The gun linked to from the above thread is a pre-charged airgun, but the FAQ about it points out that it can't be pumped by hand, because it requires a slow, powerful source of dry air. OK -- it's an esoteric...

Just Bought A New .22 Plinker

I don't know much ('anything' is close) about single action; can you explain why the Ruger action is other than traditional in its operation? What's different with this one? And Yes, photos, with focus, appropriate background, decent lighting -- we're not paying you to just sit there! ;)...

    best air rifle under $500

Now *that* is a record! Good shooting, even if it took five shots. ;) That RWS looks nice. timothy

4-Shot .357 Any Kiddo or Felon Can Now Legally Purchase and Carry Unconcealed

So: if fills cost $5-15 bucks, how many shots do you get from from a fill? I realize it's apples and drywall, but $15 is a lot of the cheapskate .22LR that is all I've ever fired from my .22s ;) I am really intrigued by modern high-powered pre-charged airguns, but Oy, the infrastructure! If...

Adding one to the family (9mm)

Of the ones on your list, I own two: - an XD (though mine's in .45, I've shot the 9mm, which was boringly similar ;)) - a Cz-75 Have shot and enjoyed the Sig and Glocks, and there's not much *bad* to say about either of them, IMO, or any of your listed options. You'll find detractors on...

    2 C&R questions: (please forgive)

Thanks! That makes it an easier decision, though not the one I was hoping for, to put off the C&R paperwork until I've moved ;) Appreciate it -- timothy

    2 C&R questions: (please forgive)

Hi there! a) Preamble: I suspect there's a great FAQ, perhaps even on this site, and I would be very pleased to discover it. I've been skimming, but I haven't found answers to the two small questions I have right now. b) Background, by way of explanation: I am at present a resident of...

    642 Club Part Three

"Various .410 shot were tried, along with 250gr Gold Dots in .45 Colt, 250gr LRNFP in .45 Schofield, and moonclipped .45 ACPs (Same 6-shot 'clips as the 625JM, 22, 1917, etc.). Fun revolver. I don't think it'll replace the 642 as my EDC CCW." Stainz: How's the accuracy with the .45 ACP? Didn't...

    $150 s&w

What do you mean by "package"? Grab bag at the local thrift store? Or is this what all those "package stores" I see in some states are selling? ;) timothy

What is your favorite .22 revolver?

I don't have one *yet* (money sufficient is now in the kitty, though, and I'm looking for an acceptable bargain), but the 617 has my eye. I wonder if by the time I find the perfect 617 (new? low miles?), Ruger will shock me by bringing out a comparable DA .22 ... And hmm ... 617 in 4"? 6"...

    First gun?

You have good taste -- 10/22 is a great choice. I don't have one, but will correct that one of these days ;) They're fun to shoot, reliable, and the wazoo overflows with the aftermarket parts, etc. Also consider, as it seems you are considering, a bolt .22 -- I have a Savage (model No. not to...

Ruger P345 why is it not more popular

Mine's been reliable (in light / coddled use -- .45's expensive!), and it's nicely shaped. For some reason it doesn't excite me as much to shoot as some other guns do, but I definitely like it. Ruger has a way of making autos that look like the adult version of Fischer-Price ;) timothy

    A question about squibs...

I have not yet experienced a squib -- for which I am grateful. But I'd be pleased to see some clear photos of the ringed barrels to know how large (or small) a difference to look for. timothy

Sexy, older, good looking stainless semis?....

I have a stainless 22/45, and highly recommend this model. Durable, accurate, cheap to feed. (I've never bothered with other than the cheapest brick I can get at Wal-Mart; the gun and ammo together far outpace the shooter for accuracy.) timothy

    Getting Older and Changing Attitudes

How d'ya figure? Actual brandishing is a legitimate offense. Opening fire to rob a store is a legitimate offense. So ... Nope :) timothy

    Wonderful "Crude" Guns

Sten guns spring to mind here -- ugly, but not ugly as an engineering project. Just had to google the Volunteer Commando -- makes me glad I don't have one ;) timothy

Owners Name "electric penciled" on slide - how much does this affect value?

What I'd like to find is a gun so disfigured at a gun show, and therefore get a great price on it. I am not really interested in getting rid of guns unless they fall to pieces (unlikely, at my low-range-time pace), and if it means a big discount, I'll take it! In a weird way, and depending on...
