Are revolvers inherently more reliable than semi-autos?

I have had more than one revolver fail on me. One was a Dan Wesson and one was a colt (not cheap junk in other words). Neither were capable of firing or at least firing safely without being repaired. I have also had the same thing happen with autoloaders. Anything can break and everything will...

AR: is the rifle buffer the best?

The vltor a5 setup is great. I've run a few of them in different configurations and never had a problem. It's a little bit pricey but hey. If you like the emod stock you can sometimes find good deals on an emod/a5 combo kit.

    Lead in a Glock

That's true...but there is still a very big difference in the overall makeup of the bullet. There are also wildly varying degrees of hardness too. Bullet size, velocity, rifling, types of powder, how often the barrel is cleaned, etc etc are all factors you have to consider (among other things)...

    Lead in a Glock

There is a difference between just plain lead and hard cast bullets. Most of what people call lead bullets these days are actually hard cast. They are not the same thing. People just call them that because they aren't jacketed and look like plain old lead bullets. They are usually much harder...

Has defensive ammo changed a lot in the last 30 years?

It's all about money. The 9mm has been around for a long time and sells a lot of ammo. Tons of R&D goes into things like that. That alone has led to lots of improvements. The same thing has been happening with .380 since the .380 has sold a lot more since many states have loosened ccw laws and...

    Glock 20 recommendations - 10mm Ammo

For plinking I've been messing around with some of that sig ammo because it's really inexpensive and it's kind of in the middle of the road as far as power goes for a plinking round. A lot of the other ammo you come across is barely hotter than a .40S&W if at all. The sig isn't loaded hot or...

Tell me about the HK VP9

I have a VP9 and I like mine. It does a lot of things well but it's not for everyone because of the mag release (if you're not already used to a paddle) and the price of magazines. If those 2 things don't bother you...go for it. Good pistol. I'm shopping for some sights for mine now actually...

Does threading a barrel add or decrease value to the gun?

I don't think it "automatically" does anything to the price of the gun. It all depends on which gun you do it to. If you threaded the barrel on a gun that not many people would ever put a brake/flash hider/suppressor on...then it might be harder to sell. You may end up taking less money for it...

    870 Extraction Problems

Yes I know it's an older gun that was never prone to have those issues. I'm just noting that people are very quick to say that regarding 870s because they had such a big problem with that. I think that most of that was in their fairly recent express line...I don't remember them ever having...

    870 Extraction Problems

Have you seen how rough some of the chambers are in these newer 870s? It's such a common problem and a known fix for extraction issues that people just automatically say to do it because it's usually the problem. Sure, junk wally world aluminum shells aren't exactly going to make things better...

    Disappointed in PSA parts

I have had 2 LPKs that had out of spec parts in them a couple of years ago. I ended up throwing them in the trash and that was the last time I bought anything from them. It seems like most people have pretty good luck with their parts but I didn't.

Role of the 12 Gauge Shotgun in Warfare (2016)

I've learned a lot from this thread. This has convinced me that if we go to war against cobras that are ready to strike....we need to arm all of our troops with sawed off shotguns in shoulder holsters. We can also train everyone to "bounce" buckshot off of all sorts of things during our...

    Expensive AR lower worth it?

I'm in the camp that doesn't care about lowers much. They are essentially just a box that you stick pins through...that's it (assuming they are built to proper spec). Mostly what you pay for is looks. There are other options you may get like a flared magwell or threaded detent holes for easier...

    M-Lok vs. Keymod

For other people debating...this is interesting: https://www.manticorearms.com/transformer-rails-and-accessories.html You can change the panels out on this handguard and run whatever you want. That way if you really have to have a specific accessory that comes in only mlok or only keymod, you...

    SCAR 17S setup (optic?)

I run a TA11 on mine. I haven't put a ton of rounds through it with the acog on it yet though. I've read a lot about them being tough on optics. Hopefully mine holds up. I have seen reports of acogs breaking and acogs with 10,000+ rounds and no issues. We'll see I guess!

    Unexpected visitor downrange

I was out shooting at our little 100 yard range in the woods. I just loaded a 1911 and fired one shot, hitting a steel target at maybe 15 yards. After the round struck the steel, a fawn walked right out next to the steel target, stopped, looked right at me for maybe 5 seconds, and slowly walked...

why 7.62x54 AK type rifle is more expensive than 308

I can get 7.62x51 at walmart for 9.99/box. Even that's cheaper than any 54 I've seen in a retail store in the last year. It's almost always at least $10-12+/box unless you find them on sale. Even sites like bulkammo.com, luckygunner, ammoman.....ALL of those sites just as the first 3 examples I...

Why brick and morter are dying

Brick and mortar stores are going away in general anyways. The LGS scene is changing big time these days and a lot of places are going to miss the boat and go out of business. Most of them have it coming though. The places that stay successful deserve it because it's a tough business. Someone...

WASR 10/63 vs Polish AK, worth the difference?

The WASR was really never THAT bad. There was just a lot more to choose from for right around that same price. For a while there you could have got a converted saiga for not too much more (along with a bunch of other variants which most are gone now). Heck, you could even get an arsenal for...
