A snubby is meant for bad breath distances. With the 642 You have the advantage of sticking the barrel into the ribs/stomach and the gun will fire. You won't have that option with an autoloader.
I would say a Glock 19 or a 3" barreled revolver in .357 Magnum(Ruger/S&W). My duty weapon is a Sig and they have been hit or miss at our agency. I don't think they are as reliable as Glock. Fwiw, I carry a glock or 357 snubby off duty.
great gun for carry, however the lightweight snubby is harder to master than semiauto pistols. They have quite a kick to them that turns off women. I wanted one for my wife, but after shooting it, she will not own one due to the recoil and we are searching for a semi auto. I would rent one and...
I just picked up my M&P 340 today for $549 before the $50 rebate. I put 100 rds of Speer 135gr 357 short barrel ammo throught it before taking it home. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Using the high revolver grip that Miceluk recommends, I was able to put 5 rounds in a quarter size group...
The J frame really isn't that fat. The cylinder is the widest part. Everything else is thin. Budsgunshop has new NO-LOCK 442s in stock for $391 shipped which IMO is a great deal.
I used to feel under gunned with my S&W 642 when off duty so I started carrying a G23. I've been carrying a gun everyday I'm out of the house for the last 13 years. I've finally gotten to the point where I like to enjoy my off time without having a larger handgun stuck in my pants. I'm now going...
I carry a 229 on duty in uniform and in a Don Hume PCCH AIWB when flying commercial airlines or plain clothes. Its a thick pistol for concealed carry. Thats why I carry a G23 off duty. Its much easier to conceal and is more reliable. I am on my second P229 service weapon in 2 years. The DHS...
I have one of these that I bought from Brownells for under $25. It works great! It does its intended job of keeping smash and grab thieves from getting away with my handgun. It's nice for the fact that it slides underneath one of the seats so it's not visible and it's portable so it can go with...
1. what gun are you carrying there? Glock G23 and SIG P229R
2. what holster do you like for appendix position? i'm assuming IWB, but educate me if i'm wrong. most seem angled for 4:00. All IWB holsters with a straight drop 0 degree cant....FIST Kydex #, High Noon Mr. Softy and Don Hume PCCH
3...
My 642 peeled quite a bit. I bought it used and the finish was close to 100%. I only used Break-Free to clean it. I called S&W and they told me they would refinish it for free but I had to pay shipping to them. A month later I got a bill in for $350 for refinishing the handgun. When I called...
How is that? The grip is made for 3 fingers when the mag is inserted. Same 3 fingers you place on a G19.
Anyways, I bought a 2005 G36 and it's been my perfect off duty carry gun. 100% reliable. It's a lightweight .45ACP, it's slimmer than the G19 and I don't know where this snappy recoil is...
I used the Barami on my S&W 642 for a little while until I put the Clipdraw on it but I find the Barami makes the gun sit lower in the waistband than the Clipdraw. I prefer the gun to sit higher for a better grip.
I carried my 2 1/4" SP101 exclusively this way. I loved it! The tape is VERY strong and it does come off with no marks. You do need to use alcohol or some other type of cleaner to remove the tape residue. I have since sold my SP101 but used Clipdraw on my 640 as well. The best thing is if you...
I'm all for exercising your 4th Amendment rights, but this advise seems geared towards folks who are breaking the law or plan to break the law. As a federal LEO who works with local and state LEOs daily, I see how politically correct they have to be now. They have their hands tied behind their...
The square and round options are for the type of pockets the holster will be in. Go with the model that best matches the majority of pockets you wear. Most of my pants/shorts have rounded pockets so that's the option I chose but it carries just fine in my squared-pocket pants as well.
