    Hi-point 9mm

Speaking of Hi Point, has anyone heard anything about the alleged .45 carbine that they're working on? If it's as inexpensive as their other guns, I might want to get one for myself when/if it actually comes out.

There will be a new episode of Extreme Marksmen on the History Channel, January 25 at 8pm Eastern.

If There Were No Antis What Gun Laws Would You Have?

Firearms sales only to those 18 and over. All firearms, all ammunition, 18 and over. That is the only "gun law" I would have.

A little buy recommendation for 9X19

Can you get Sigs for that price in Germany? You can get one brand-new for about half of that here in the States. I own one of your old police surplus P6 pistols and love it.

Sig Mosquito barrel gouge -- picture

Thanks for the clarification, that did look like the slide in your first pic, with the slide locked back. I'm not really familiar with the Mosquito design, it's different from the regular Sigs. Anyway, as others have pointed out, maybe email them with your photos and see what they have to say...

Sig Mosquito barrel gouge -- picture

It's probably just a cosmetic issue. I wouldn't go through the hassle and expense of sending it back if the gun shoots fine. Is there a chance that you caused it somehow? Any rough handling? And by the way, the gouge is on the slide, not the barrel.

I'm the only one in this room profesional enough to carry a Glock

Yes, he did deserve everything he got. He fired a gun in a room full of innocent people, a supposed "professional". If one of us mere peons had done that, there would be no question that we deserved it. Not only did he demonstrated stupidity and neglegence, also mind-blowing hubris as well...

when at the range why not let a few others shoot your stuff

I don't really have any interesting firearms, but when I took my Sig P6 to the range, I was astonished that it did generate some interest. One older fellow took a look at it, said he had a P225, which would be pretty much the same thing. You'd think those folks had never seen a Sig before.

Yesterday I got my first 22 LR rifle here in America....

You did fine, and welcome to the United States as a citizen! I'm a Ruger man myself, but you did fine. Buy yourself a few bricks and enjoy some cheap shooting. I'd imagine Italian gun laws aren't as permissive as the ones here.

    Are K31s really that unreliable?

This is the first I've heard of a K31 locking up for any reason. Mine has been 100% reliable, but I've only used GP11 and Prvi Partizan ammo in it. The action, to me, is smooth as butter and it completely extracts and ejects every time.

Are the Sig P6 trade-ins still available cheap?

AIM doesn't have any P6s at the moment, their only used handguns are the Nagant revolvers, and I don't think that's what you're after. http://www.aimsurplus.com/ However, it is where I bought my P6 for just over $300 out the door. Great quality and service, reasonable prices.

    Give your GunShow report.

Just got back from the gun show. It was pretty crowded, but no worse than it has been. Ammo prices weren't too outrageous, though I saw a brick of 60 rounds of 7.5x55 Swiss selling for $55. I bought a brick at another table for $20 less. Lots of folks carrying SKSs and AKs. I didn't look too...

    Faxing ID to Aimsurplus...

AIM Surplus is good people. They won't screw you over. If you go there in person to buy a gun or ammo, they take your ID and make a photocopy and keep it on record.

    Shotshells in a handgun?

Their only real use is against pests, rats, snakes and the like. Pretty much worthless for anything else. Turns your pistol into a mini-shotgun, which is kind of neat, though.

    The Best 9mm for CCW

Get yourself a P6 or two. Sig quality without the sticker shock. Single-stack 9mm, might be a bit large for concealing, but I think it's entirely doable. They're starting to dry up though, so if you want one, you'd better jump on it right now. I got mine from AIM Surplus for just over $300...

    which suppressor which gun?

SIG Mosquitos with threaded barrels seem to be popular. http://www.summitgunbroker.com/Sig_Mosquito.html $338 for a new Moquito with a threaded barrel. Not a bad deal. It's a .22 so it'd be good for quiet plinking. Would you need hearing protection with a suppressed 22 pistol like that?

Is .44Mag a practical self defence caliber?

I wouldn't use it for SD, personally. 1. If you have to use it for that purpose, some creative DA could say that you thought you were Dirty Harry and out to shoot someone with your ultra-super deadly cop-killer 44 magnum. (Same for handloads, bad juju for SD. A DA would try to paint you as a...

    10/22 Pistol?

I've heard of the Charger; not my thing, really. Ruger has other excellent .22 pistols that would make good plinkers or hunters. But, hey, whatever floats your boat. You might be able to wring a bit more accuracy from the Charger, I suppose.

    High Point 380

If you want a CCW piece, the Bersa would be a MUCH better choice. Hi Points are extremely big and heavy, not exactly easy to conceal. If, however, you just want a range/tackle box/truck pistol, go with the Hi Point. Cheap, reliable, no questions asked lifetime warranty. They're uglier than...

    Ruger P85/89

Pretty much what they said. They're heavy and clunky, but incredibly durable and reliable. I tried one, and it wasn't a good fit for me. But if it fits you, then go for it. Hard to beat it for the money in 9mm.
