Setting OAL For New Sig P210 A

This is for a Zero 115 FMJ. Rather than using one of the OAL values in one of the many loading books I have, I went the route of doing the plunk test, seeing if the bullet could turn in the chamber, etc. Initially, it wasn't ejecting properly so I decreased OAL step by step until it seated...

    New Optic Sight

I will soon be putting a Vortex sight on my STI Trojan 6" .45 ACP. Is this going to affect the slide operation? I will be removing some weight taking off the stock rear sight but probably adding a bit more than that with mount and site itself.

    Tell Me What These Are

Been going to the range for a long time but have never seen these before. Have a 9mm stamp on them.

    Bullsbag

Has anyone had experience with either the Pro or the 15" versions of the Bullsbag? There's a tremendous amount of hype on their website and I was more interested in hearing from someone who has had real experience with one as to how good it is as a rifle rest off the bench. Thank you.

    Sight Problem

I just found out that my front sight on a semi-auto has loosened in the slide cut and moves back and moves laterally back and forth about 1/64". What does this mean on a target at 15 yards? I have no clue as to the math needed to figure this out and was hoping someone in the forum would know...

    Accuracy

Many people, including myself, use reduced loads for target shooting. My question is this: Is it the reduced load that makes it more accurate? Or does the reduced load make the shooter more accurate by reducing the anticipated recoil?

    .45 LC vs. .45 ACP

Given all things equal, including quality of the gun and the reload, if you put both in a Ransom Rest at 25 yards, which revolver will be the more accurate?

    CZ Shadow 75 LS

My apologies since I think I put my original post in the wrong place and couldn't find it. I'll re-post here and if the old one needs removing, so be it. I'm seriously looking at buying this gun but first would like to hear from anyone who may have experience with this modified (by Angus...

    Primer Pocket Uniformer

I need for someone to explain this tool to me. Is uniforming the primer pockets something done one time, when the brass is new or each time it goes through another reloading cycle? Pete

    Oxpho Blue

Has anyone had experience with this product? I've got a small (.25"X.50") patch of bare, shiney metal that I'm attempting to reblue with the oxpho. I'm applying with a Q tip, letting it sit for awhile and wiping it of. Trouble is, if there's any changes, I'm not seeing them. Any tips on what I...

    .41 Mag and Bluedot

Does anyone continue to use Bluedot in their .41 Mag despite the warnings from Alliant that came out a couple of years ago? I used 10.1 grs. of Bluedot behind a 215 LSWC for years with great success and as far as I know, no pressure problems. It seemed rather odd when I never had any problems...

    Shooting Problem

I've been fighting my full-size S&W 945 for as long as I've owned it-about 8 or 9 years. In a nutshell, I can go to the ten yard line and put 24 rounds into the X ring without difficulty. If I move to 15 yards, it all goes to hell. I'm all over the place with a bad vertical flinch. Over the...

    Recoil Spring Weight

I was always taught that one used the heaviest recoil spring that your gun functions well with for any given charge. In my .45 ACPs, I use 3.8 of Clays or 3.7 of Bullseye for target shooting and the 16 lb. standard weight springs work well. However, I often read of folks using much lighter...

    Sighting Technique

What are the pros (and cons, if any) of sighting with both eyes open? I had my trusty Hi-Power and S&W 625 out this A.M. and tried it for a couple hundred rounds and thought I got better results although, after awhile, it seemed more difficult to get my eyes to focus. Pete

    Berger Bullets Can Be Picky

Off to the range this morning to shoot an RRA AR15 at 100 meters to proof some loads. The top pic (I think you can click them to make them bigger) is of two groups both 80 grain Bergers with 24.5 of Varget with the bullet seated .010 off the lands. The left group is a 5 shot one showing my usual...

    Shooting 500 Meters is a #%@&*

A couple of weeks or so ago, I was on this forum showing off some targets shot with my Model 12 Savage .308 at 300 meters that turned out pretty good. Today, I took the same targets, rifle and ammo to 500 meters and have to say it let the steam out of me in a hurry. The pics are of the two best...

Pleased With This (and braggin' a bit)

Four consecutive targets shot this morning at 300 meters with a factory Savage .308, Model 12.. The first three are 5 shot groups and the fourth is a 10 shot group. The best was the first one at 1.123 center-to-center. Double-click the pic to make it bigger

    Emergency Room Fodder

Found these at the range yesterday. Glock, .45 reloads. Or should I say overloads. Next time I go to the range, I'll look for pieces of Glock with blood on them.

    .41 Mag and Bluedot

I used 10.1 grains of Bluedot with a a 215 LSWC for years in my .41 mag. Now Alliant has issued a warning against using it with .41 Mag at all. I never had any sign of a problem with Bluedot for all this time. Did they change the powder or what? I'm sorely tempted just to go back loading it like...

    Is This Possible?

I've seen it mentioned on one forum or the other the poster's idea that very slow loads should be inaccurate because the bullet will still be in the barrel in the midst of recoil. Whereas, the faster the load, the bullet will be able to "beat" the recoil effect on aiming. On the other hand, this...
