Camping, dad n son BOTH carry either 357's or 44mag. We've had to back out of a few bear encounters.......so far, without having to use them. I'd rather have em and not need one than the alternative. Dan

In person to person, no 4473 is done....only by FFL dealer. I'd talk to the guy and get a feel for him.....if you are comfortable, I'd get a picture ID and record it, with serial number of gun and get him to sign it. I wasn't always this paranoid.... only damn pistol I ever bought tax...

When I trot...walk, getting ready for hunting season, I carry a 357 in a shoulder holster. This area has been known for bear and cat......not likely I'll ever use it but it is not concealed and few people are out at 0430! Just don't want to get chewd on. Dan
