The desire to show off a firearm in such situations is usually an indicator
of someone who has only recently become a "convert". They just bought
their first toy, just got their CCW etc. etc.
It's a normal response but one that can easily lead to accidents or other
problems. Show and Tell...
This thread was linked over at another forum, I just finished reading the entire
thing and found it very informative and entertaining. It's probably been two years
since I last posted here at THR but this thread is a definite gem.
Makes me glad we don't have hogs here in the Great Basin...
I routinely carry a Kimber Ultra tactical. I bought a decent Bianchi paddle holster with a snap break strap at Sportsmanswarehouse. Gould and Goodrich make decent ones. Galco makes excellent ones as does Safariland.
Triple K makes decent holsters in the lower price range. Any holster that...
Not enough would be the apparent answer. Citizens need to hold government and LEO accountable in court. And courts need to punish those in power who abuse that power. For the only alternative to courts that are unequal in the application of the law is an ugly ugly thing.
I distinctly remember a video that made the rounds of the internet where an officer in Missouri took that attitude with a young man who just happened to be in a position to document and publicize said officers "quesionably legal actions" during said stop. Said officer lost his job and hopefully...
A victory for gun owners by having SCOTUS rule in favor of Heller and against DC will be exactly that a victory. A battle will have been won but the war against those who hate the 2nd Amendment will continue. How big a victory ( or defeat if we lose) this case will be is still not known and...
In legal theory if a law is held as unconstitutional than any convictions arising from that law should be considered null and void.
In the real world only those who are well off enough to afford paying a lawyer to jump through all the hoops to put that theory in play for them will benefit...
A proper and honest answer to such questions is a simple " I have no contraband or other illegal items in this vehicle". This should answer the officers question. If you are required to inform regarding CCW then do so. But do not volunteer any more information than is needed to satisfy the...
Nevada law is for the most part user friendly. With the exception of schools, courthouses and any public building that is posted as no carry and has controlled entry i.e. metal detectors you can legally carry anywhere ( except fed gov property as in mil bases and fed buildings). Open carry is...
Nothing is ban proof. All that is required to ban an item....any item....is a politician with an agenda, a total disregard for the Constitution and support from enough like minded pollys.
Those who are pushing for a repository of ballistic information are the same as people who refuse to consider all the other logical and scientifically reviewed data that show gun control is ineffective at crime control. To these people facts are irrelevant unless they can be twisted or...
First of all what this man does or does not do outside of baseball is no business of the teams. They have no right to pressure him in any way as long as his activity is legal. Now having said that I find that shooting animals from a helicopter is not hunting, its just killing. A chore to be...
Law enforcement like any other "career" draws people that are interested in
that particular calling. Geeks like to open computer and electronics businesses. People who like food frequently open restaurants and catering companies. Caring people will go into social work, healthcare, teaching...
Congrats. Stay on the honest side of the fence. Remember your oath to
the Constitution. If necessary grow a pair and refuse to obey evil and illegitimate orders from politically goaled chiefs. And remember....you took an oath to protect and serve, not rule and enforce. And finally...
Perhaps the number of these incidents is up, since uniform nationwide statistics are not exactly accurate and usually unavailable for months or even
years the evidence must be viewed as anecdotal. What is not in question is
the media doing whatever they can to sensationalize violence to match...
Oh so true....and what occurs in a courtroom is the application of law, justice
is not a consideration. If it occurs it is an accidental and unintended byproduct of the legal process
From the perspective of the founding fathers any action that is taken as
a response to an immoral and unjustified act ( or law) perpetrated by those
in power is just and right. That theory was and is the basis by which they
chose to revolt against the crown. They broke countless laws in...
A cold hard fact of life is that in politics all that matters is "what have you done for me lately" and "what can you do for me in the future".
Corresponding to an elected official that you did not vote for in the past and
cannot vote for in the future is a futile gesture for 90% of...
Governmental agencies are entropic.....they tend to persist and expand inexorably and eternally unless acted upon by an enormous external force, kind of like the universe. They resist change, any change for any reason with almost insanely violent rhetoric and posturing.
If we were to...
