    C&R Modification Question

In my opinion, there is no problem. If you want to be absolutely sure, write to ATF and get an official opinion back in writing. Then you are covered.

    C&R Modification Question

As you may know ATF changes their minds quite frequently. Here is their current take on modifying C&R firearms: Their present opinion is that " Combining this ruling and the definition of C&R firearms, the Firearms Technology Branch (FTB) has concluded that a firearm must be in its original...

    Vertical Foward Grip Question

You pay $200 to manufacture a SBR or AOW, $200 to transfer a SBR and $5 to transfer an AOW. While generally talking about machinegun parts, SBR rifles and short barreled uppers, ATF's position also applies to vertical foregrips. ATF takes the position you can have as many of each as you have...

Electrical wizards - could stun guns be lethal weapons if manufactured specifically..

It takes 100 milliamps to kill you. Once you penetrate the skin and get to the nicely conductive blood and guts, where resistance is very low, you can kill someone with 24 volts. In the Navy, they teach that a person soaked in seawater has a low enough resistance through their skin for 28...

Anyone ever convicted for 922 (r)?

It depends. The magazine body, spring and floorplate count as three parts in the parts count game. If the person doing your conversion included those as his US made parts, using an imported magazine will place you in violation. And yes, every time you insert the imported magazine, you are...

Anyone ever convicted for 922 (r)?

Yep. If by some method the firearm can be proven to be in violation of 922(r), it will be ruled "contraband" and confiscated.

Anyone ever convicted for 922 (r)?

This charge was common back around 1989. When the import ban started, the Chinese (aka Norinco) simply removed the bayonet from the SKS, stuck it in the box and shipped it to the US. Without the bayonet, the gun was deemed to be "sporting" and legal for import. Once in the country, the dealer...

Anyone ever convicted for 922 (r)?

Nope. 922(r) had absolutely nothing to do with protecting US manufacturers.

I do not give out personal information over the telephone to strangers.

Anyone ever convicted for 922 (r)?

To my knowledge, there have been no arrests/convictions .... Here's the law: Note that it is the ACT of assembling a firearm that is illegal, not possession of a firearm that has already been assembled. Also note that ATF says it is not illegal to be in possession of the parts that can...

minimum legal overall length of a rifle?

IIRC, the Uzi Carbine is under 26" overall length with the stock folded. Doesn't matter anyway. ATF measures with the stock extended. Here's one of many letters from them stating that fact. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=347669...

No, this is like buying a $700 toy that will let me shoot 50 rounds with one trigger pull on my M16A1 lower because the government will not let me have a full auto P90.

    Question for an FFL

With the huge number of regulations, confusion is the norm. :) I've been doing this for over 20 years and still get it wrong on occasion.

    Question for an FFL

As a former FFL.... And current C&R.... Could you point out the regulation requiring you to have the FFL of someone sending you a firearm? If a private person can send you a firearm from any state in the Union, why would you need a copy off an FFL's license to receive one from him?

    Question for an FFL

As correctly stated above, your dealer does not need the FFL whoever sent him the gun. The RECEIVING FFL (aka transferee) gives the SENDING FFL (aka transferor) a copy of his license. The RECEIVING FFL (aka transferee) does not need a copy of the SENDING FFL's (aka transferor) license. Tell...
