A couple of weeks ago I started a thread regarding my old 10-10 which was not zeroing correctly and then when finally zeroed it would not measure accurately or with precision. This was after all of the cleaning, etc.
I received a lot of greatsuggestions from RCModel sas well as others but in...
I picked up a used 10-10 a couple of weeks ago and have just set it up. I leveled it and it initially wouldn't zero regardless of level adjustment. I removed one of the larger lead BB's and added back 2 and a fraction of #8 lead shot to get it to zero after a slight level adjustment..
I...
I have started reloading for 38 special, and part of my repertoire is a taper crimp die that came with a 38/357 die set from an estate sell. The set included a Lee Full Length Sizing die; a Lee Powder Through Expanding Die; and RCBS Bullet Seating Die with various seaters; and a C-H Taper...
I bought my daughter a LCR 38 Special. I am wanting to prepare some light loads for initial practice and have on hand 250 of cast .356 RNFP @ 100 grain. Understanding these are for a .380 auto and that 38 special is at .357 will the .356 be adequate for use?
Thanks,
Vacek
I purchased the reloading estate of an older gentleman. God rest his soul as he was quite the reloader and collector. I think I have examples of about every type of rifle and handgun cartridge of the last 100 years.
Anyway I all have several unopened cans of powder (mostly IMR from 60's)...
I hope I am wording this right.
In several of Dave Scovill's editorials in Rifle and Handloader he gives more credence to minimum run out versus seating the bullet just off the lands when it comes to precision.
That being said, to minimize runout are the straight line are the Wilson...
I am loading for my Remington Model 14 which is chambered for 30 Remington an obsolete caliber equivalent to the 30-30. I pick up some vintage (late 70's) Sierra 150 grain Flat Point and Round Point bullets.
I am loading these up with 31 grains of Varget and CCI Large Rifle Primers.
I...
I have a real pretty Remington Model 14 in 30 Remington. I have full sizing dies (RCBS) and the Lee Collet Neck sizing dies (30-30 / 30 Rem). Anyway I wanted to see if once fired brass would chamber easily if only neck sized as pump actions do not have the closing torque/power as bolt actions...
I have picked up mixed lots of Red Dot (still in original cans) at different estate and garage sales. Would there be any issue in mixing all of them up in one large cannister so that one wouldn't need to adjust for each separate lot?
I was at a gun show today and sold and old Makarov for $235 and picked up a new in the box H&R 45/410 Survival Model SB1 for a total cost with tax of $229. This is easily the ugliest gun I have ever owned but should prove useful as a truck gun. So I have a few questions.
1. This has a...
I have an H&R 223 that I want to download some of Speer's 45 grain 218 Bee Bullets. These are jacketed flat points. One load noted for the 218 Bee is 7.5 grains of 2400 (starting load). Understanding the higher volume of a 223 case, would the 7.5 grains of 2400 still be a good starting point...
The H&R Toppers are notorious for a fairly weak firing pin/spring. This often causes FTF. If the caveat on using small pistol primers in rifles is piercing, would that be a problem in this situation?
I purchased an older gentleman's reloading setup from his estate. Lot's and Lot's of equipment but also over a 1000 different reloads (various rifle calibers) and over 50 boxes of shotshells.
Anyway, I pulled all of the rifle shells. I have around 500 of the older roundtip 180 grain...
I pulled several hundred 3006 rounds that I purchased from an estate sale. I now am the proud owner of a bunch of 180 grain Remington Core-lokt Round Nose. Per a previous tread I am going to load them up in some prepared 308 Lake City brass for my plinking practice loads.
One set of...
OK, understanding fully well the LC brass is thicker and therefore there is less volume; and agreeing that less powder should be used for a given load, I have a question. Actually 3.
First, what is the basis for the "reduce the published load by 10%"? That seems kinda arbitrary. Is there...
As I mentioned in an earlier post I purchased the reloading equipment and supplies from the family of an elderly gentleman who had recently gone on to reloading/hunting glory. Anyway, part of that was 100's of 3006 rounds that he had reloaded, some dating back to the 70's. Anyway 300 or so are...
I am just curious here and am not planning anything. IMR 4350 and IMR 4831 are similar in many aspects. What would happen if the two were mixed with about 80% 4831 and 20% 4350?
Again, not to do this but to understand what would supposedly happen if two similar powders were mixed.
One of several firearms I inherited was an RG 38 Special from the 70's. This is a snubnose. With moderate to light loads (I reload) was this gun safe to shoot? I know it was what we called Saturday Night Specials back in the day.
