    Bag technique, stop pulse shaking

3/4 MOA wobble area means about 3/4 " at 100 yards , as you know. I don't think it's possible to shoot groups smaller than your wobble area, except by pure luck. That is the exact reason I want to reduce it. It must be the way I interact with this rifle on the bench, because I don't see wobble...

I always check and adjust parallax before starting my session. I'm a firm believer in parallax adjustable scopes.

    Bag technique, stop pulse shaking

I have a plastic stocked Marlin .17 HMR , which seems very accurate , but my groups seem to be handicapped by the crosshairs shaking, everytime my heart beats. Any suggestions how to eliminate this? I am using a tripod front rest with a leather bag on it and a rear leather sandbag.

Thank you, sage 5907 and LoonWulf, I believe you guys are correct. You have solved a mystery that many gun shops could not. Now I can try to hunt down an action for the stock. Your help was appreciated.

    Help Identifying action for stock.

Update: Compared it to a Weatherby at a LGS and the guard screws jive. The bolt handle cut out on this stock comes straight down, someone suggested that may have some importance in identifying it.

    Help Identifying action for stock.

I acquired this semi finished gunstock, . Would like to use it, but I can't figure out what action it fits. There are holes for three action screws. The two extreme screws are 7 15/16" apart. A magazine well cut out is 3 1/2 " long. I am hoping that someone can identify this action by looking at...

Does disassembly affect point of impact?

UPDATE on "Does disassembly affect point of impact?" I was going to take Glockula's advice and try a disassembly to see if it affects impact point. However, when I went to the range, I slipped a piece of paper under the barrel and discovered, what I thought was a floated barrel, actually had a...

    What wet tumbling liquid?

I am thinking of going to stainless pin media in my rotary tumbler. What liquid does everyone recommend? I am thinking the liquid doesn't matter much, probably try water with a little detergent.

    On Fighting Shotguns....

"Yep. Ya can't go cheap for a decent light and mount." Not necessarily true. I have found two flashlights for my shotguns that are very powerful and relatively cheap, The Coast HP-7, focusing light, 360 lumens, and the Coast PX-1, focusing, 310 lumens. About $34 each, Home Depot sometimes has...

Does disassembly affect point of impact?

I have a sporterized, Mauser large ring action in 8mm, free floated, bedded into Fajen wood stock. I want to unbolt the action from the stock for travel purposes. It's just so much cheaper to fly with a rifle case that comes in less than 60", length plus width plus depth. Do you think my...

    Federal .308 brass question

I tried some experiments based on your suggestions. I weighed five groups of 3 shells each on the scale at same time. Here is what I got. FC 14 headstamps 526.5 grains for 3 shells, 525.8, 527.2, 526.1, 527.1 FC .308 Win Headstamp, 488.2, 508.8, 490.3, 525.6, 525.0 So I am thinking trim...

    Federal .308 brass question

I scrounged some .308 brass from the range, to add to my collection. I was about to reload some and noticed my old brass was headstamped FC .308 Win. The found brass is headstamped FC 14. Other than the crimped in primers on the FC 14, are there any differences I should know about? I am...
