When California was once home to some of America's most talented Gun Smiths.

Hogue grips were also made in California (maybe they still are). The Hogue family were customers of mine when I lived there.

    Google Catalogs Your Serial Numbers

How about fighting this by feeding them crap? Posting pictures (with serial numbers) of guns that are not yours? Posting photos including house addresses & license plates that are not yours? I'm sure there's a downside to this, but...maybe not for you.

Minneapolis church wants to buy back guns

If a liberal organization wants to buy up guns to get them off the street, then all illegalities of the transactions are ignored. Or so it seems.

How much oomph to poke an armadillo?

You should have pieces of armadillo scattered over half an acre!

    Why not more stainless steel?

I also like stainless for virtually all guns, but I have several blued ones too. I suspect that many people prefer blued guns like they had in the army or whatever, but the army can re-blue 1000 guns at a time, with no effort. For me, always expecting restrictions on gun ownership, I find...

    kid spilled the beans...

My wife and I told our kids: "There are some things we don't talk about outside of the family" (household). :"One thing is money, another is guns; another is medical stuff..." etc. They seem to have listened and kept quiet. Of course, around here, guns, shooting, and hunting are welcome topics...

A 17 y/o kid tried to forced himself into my apartment.

You might also consider a "hotel lock", which has a long steel loop on the frame and a metal pin on the door. They work like a chain, but are much faster to lock and harder to cut through. Long screws are a must.

VA Dems Drop AR-15 Confiscation After 1000s of NRA Members Show

This is a big piece of the problem. The Virginia Republican Party has some serious internal problems, mostly because the old, established members don't want to re-orient the party to fit the times (exactly like the "never Trump"ers have been doing). The Republicans have several young, aggressive...

Gun related companies you like, and why.

I really like Numrich (Gun Parts Inc.) for their parts and accessories. Great service, great return policy, and a good sense of humor (they wrap their shipped items in The New York Times).

    Concealed class

If I remember correctly, the "7 yard rule" traces back to Virginia case law, which says that an attacker closer than 7 yards is presumed to be dangerous to you because they can quickly reach your position (so it doesn't matter if they have a gun or not). In other words, if they are that close...

    Ace Hardware in GA

I remember when the Longs Drugs in Atascadero, CA sold guns. They gave me a catalog which I still have. It even has AR-15s and Uzis in it. This was about 1984. Those were the days... I also remember Western Auto selling guns in the mid 1970s, and buying ammo at Coast To Coast Hardware. The...

    On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs

Every analogy "breaks down" at some point, since an analogy is an imperfect comparison. Nonetheless, analogies are important tools in learning and understanding the world around us. I also ask: what names would you assign to the 3 groups discussed here?

Focusing on mental health instead of gun control

I'm all for shooting classes and/or orher legitimate gun education in the classroom. My wife and two adult sons have taken tricyclic antidepressants and found them to be very effective in dealing with anxiety and depression. However, I watch them carefully for any unfavorable side effects, and...

Constitutional Carry (State not Federal Law)

Actually, only 3 states restrict Constitutional Carry to residents of the state: Idaho, North Dakota, and Wyoming. The others extend it to everyone in the state.
