Have a handgun ever failed you?

Most guns I own and/or carried either malfunctioned/not work as intended/had defects, etc. to one degree or another. It's not an issue of junk guns. It's more of a "If your favorite gun never malfunctioned, it just means you have not shot it enough" thing. I carry some of them because I think...

What are the pratical range limitation of semi auto calibers?

Range limitation is primarily decided by combined capability of shooter and gun. With a capable shooter, and even without being a IDPA champion, a good shooter with most good quality service pistol can engage a man sized target even out to 100m, which may be plausible if engaging an active...

Why not a 1911 with no thumb safety?

Comparison to TT-33 just a waste of time. It was developed and fielded by a country with people whose only concern regarding guns is that it fires a bullet and does it reliably. How "safe" it is during a civilian carrying or drawing it was not their concern.

Training, shooting Glock pistols; WFTV 9 news report...

This has nothing to so with "Glock" if the trigger was deliberately pulled. Pulling the trigger to clear the pistol is a stupid practice, if you ask me.

Why not a 1911 with no thumb safety?

Murphy can mess with 1911s too. I've seen a 1911 INSTRUCTOR forgetting to switch the firing inhibitor off. 1911s are not more safe. Different systems just swaps one risk for another. I chose an M&P40 with no thumb levers. It's just a workable trigger. Whether if someone thinks an M&P, XD, etc...

Why not a 1911 with no thumb safety?

It's not just about poundage. It is also about how the pull feels and the distance of the pull. The PPQ I had has similar trigger resistance to a 1911 I have. But, I'd feel much more at ease with running with a PPQ than running with a 1911 with firing enabled. Peak poundage wise, they're about...

    M&P rumor or fact?!?!

Yes, "rolling improvements" as their armorer instructor puts it, is in fact applied. Where S&W screwed up is consitency and tranparency regarding updated parts and availability of the updated parts. LAPD was alreay issueing M&P9 to new recruits for a while. The academy graguates with them are...

Racking the slide hard vs. gently racking?

Does not matter as long as you don't "guide" the slide forward.

    Lasers on handguns?

Military special forces is different. They need lasers because you cannot use iron sights with night vision.

    Lasers on handguns?

Lasers have VERY limited utility. I am not going to say, "Don't put lasers on guns." But, I keep them off my guns because the issues with how to work them is not solved, and that problem and other problems related to it outweighs the benefits. With pressure switches on grips, I had to...

At what point do you stop trusting a good gun?

There really is no telling when parts will actually break. I try to keep with factory maintenance schedule with major parts, but there are cases wher parts failed before they were expected to. Short of X-ray scanning parts, I think most people will just have to set a certain point of their own...

    Why I should have a .380 if I can have a 9mm like taurus pt 138 or pt 111 ?

There really is no reason to go 380ACP when an otherwise identical 9mm pistol is available AND controllable. Terminal ballistic wise, 9mm is better. If it is not controllable, then there is a room for consideration.

    Why I should have a .380 if I can have a 9mm like taurus pt 138 or pt 111 ?

If you have to ask, then you probably don't need one. No, I am not being sarcastic or snide. For me, there are places where I won't comfortably conceal anything larger than my 380ACP. Anything other than that, I'd rather have my 9mm or 40S&W.

When will the single pocket sized 9mm fad die?

Being more controllable? I don't see a significant difference in concealability when I put my 9mm Shield in my pocket. And, my Shield is more controllable than 380ACP pistols I've shot. No matter what you'd like to believe, 380ACP is not as effective as 9mm.

Ignorance behind "Shot placement is key" fallacy.

Sorry, but I don't find Mr. Ellifritz's work to be sound. For example, in his fail to stop data graph on your post, he did not have a separate data for each bullet typrs, and lumped FMJ and JHP together. The viewer cannot know if all calibers in the graph have the same bullet type composition...

Ignorance behind "Shot placement is key" fallacy.

You cannot tell the difference between , "Non-blood loss induced loss of consciousness stops" and "an attacker loses consciousness with no blood loss"? For your sake, you should not find this hilarious.

Ignorance behind "Shot placement is key" fallacy.

You, apparently. Your post does not contain any "data" that shows all bullets have equal capacity to cause psychological stops, just declarative statements. Declarative statement, no matter how authoritative person making it ma be, does not constitute data or document of proof in and of...

Ignorance behind "Shot placement is key" fallacy.

I never said "loses consciousness with no blood loss." I said stops. Due to preciousness of my time, serious response is only limited to post with signs of intelligence.

Ignorance behind "Shot placement is key" fallacy.

Mostly from individual shooting incident info I have read. I don't have them all gathered together to give you an exact percentage number. Then again, even IWBA articles, yes I have read them, believe it or not, does not say out of all instant stop incidents, CNS hits constitute majority of...
