cheap estate buckshot, anyone had problems?

I have used it and seen it used in riot gun classes. Some of the classes are for high speed types. Never heard a complaint from anyone. If cost is not an issue, I prefer Federal low recoil 00 or Remington low recoil heavy shot 00.

    the dark

In the SF Bay Area, the only place I know of for low light shooting is the Davis St range in San Leandro. There is a Saturday Night Steel Shoot for. 5 PM to 10PM. You have to attend a safety class given only on the the first two Saturdays of the month, if you qualify you can shoot steel in low...

Let me hear your Sako experiences.

My Sako Finnlight in 6.5x55 has the soft touch stock or whatever they're calling it. It's surprisingly good fairly stiff and looks good. Mine required no bedding or tweaking of any kind. Produces .5 inch groups with Federal factory ammo loaded with 123 gr Sierras. The length of pull is about...

    Which Country for SKS

Let's not forget that China had been given type 99 Arisaka Mausers as war reparations. These were rechambered to 8x57 Mauser without re boring. The FMJ ammo simply swaged down to 7.7 mm bore diameter. They also had the great Mukden Mausers built during the 1930s in Mukden, Manchuria then called...

    NAA Guardian or Beretta Tomcat

I owned a Tomcat for years. They are too fragile for continual use in SD. Broken frame, broken slide, lost parts, poor service but they are accurate when they are working. The P32 works great, conceals better very reliable and cheaper. Never owned the NAA.

    M-16 Cartoon Booklet

Booklet I served with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade in I Corps RVN. 1967-68 We were issued cartoon booklets showing M-16 maintenance. A higher than a average percentage of infantry troops had difficulty reading. A cartoon booklet showing a sexy blonde cleaning her M -16 was printed up. It...

    Home defense with a 1911

1911 for HD I use a Glock because I live in CA. We have weird liability laws that make DOA easier and cheaper to defend in court. I have full confidence in the 1911 and carried one as a heavy weapons gunner in Vietnam, but I use a Glock now.

    Insurance and arming teachers

Cost increase It seems to me that insurance companies are taking every opportunity to raise rates. Please note that in Kansas and many other states, there is little or no competition in the specialty insurance market. In schools where an active shooter was stopped by a staffer with a gun, the...

    6.5 x 55 Swede

I have a Steyr SBS in 6.5x55 with a Minox 3x9x40. It is a superb rifle cartridge combo. The most accurate ammo in mine has been Federal 140 gr but Remington 140 gr Corelokt is also great. I think a modern action is best and safest to shoot. When loaded to modern pressure levels it is a much...

avoiding ear damage with powerful rifles

My hearing damage was from the military. I was a gunner on a 106 Recoilless Rifle. This gun weighs in at 480 pounds. The shells weigh 38 to 43 pounds each. Upon discharge, enough hot gas shoots out the back of the gun to compensate entirely for the recoil of the 4.2 inch HEAT shaped charge...

    2013 PA Cartridge Show

.64 caliber Gast Principle Dimensions I am looking for info on the .64 caliber ammo used in Gast Principle machine guns. These experimental guns were used only in 1942 in B-17s in the Southwest Pacific. They were removed and scrapped after the Battle of the Coral Sea. It was apparently loaded...

Two legged dangers in National Parks

If you have been to Yosemite in the summer recently, you would notice the gangbangers from Merced and Modesto. They go in on a daypass and make the tourists uncomfortable. In the summer you have to be careful just as you would in the worst areas of a city. The only crime I saw in the winter was...

U.S. Army Mental Health Survey Concerning Private Firearms Ownership

Part of the survey is designed to exonerate the govt from blame because the new anti malarial drug mandated by the military causes suicide. Suicide is one of the possible side effects of the new drug. That is probably the reason why non combatants are now committing suicide. You will notice...

    Question for walking stick/cane users

The Hazelwood staff has been a mainstay of the working man in Ireland. The Blackthorn is far more expensive. The hazelwood is normally wider than the blackthorn. It has been referred to as "a stout hazel" in literature. I am sure that it will serve you well. I personally use a blackthorn given...

Low recoil factory loads for 30-30

I have tried the Rem Low Recoil loads in my Marlin Texan 30-30. They are excellent! I would prefer them for defense use due to reduced penetration. They use a 125 gr corelokt at about 2000 fps. I have no reason to use them for hunting.

9x18 and possibly .380 Concealed Carry Decision

The CZ is safer and has better ergonomics. The hit rate will be very high even under stress. It is renowned for it's accuracy and reliability. You will be uncomfortable if you try to wear a CZ 82/83 in Thunderwear.

    Need for high capacity magazines!

One issue not covered is that standard capacity mags are easier to load. Those of us with arthritis or Vets with Agent Orange poisoning have a difficult time loading the limited capacity mags. Why should veterans or handicapped people be further damaged than they already are. PS Agent Orange...

Strange question at the VA Hospital.

I have seen this issue come up in several ways at the VA. 1) In the old VA I was told by one guy that all guns were dangerous. He objected to private ownership and used his position to push his political values. He is a VA employee who has now retired. Unethical at best! 2) I was told a...
