    Proprietary and special load projectiles

That test he did does not make them seem very appealing. I think I'll stick with 180 gr Hornady HP-XTP for reloading and buy a couple boxes of Glasers.

    Proprietary and special load projectiles

The face of it does look pretty fangish. "Anti-terrorist" round they advertise, what a joke - I don't like the name or terror bandwagon advertising but they did beat up some gelatin pretty good. Thanks for the links PotatoJudge.

    Proprietary and special load projectiles

I want to assemble some unique stuff for my .40 USP. You assumed correctly I would like to reload frangibles if it's possible. I'm also curious about any interesting projectiles that are legal and out there.

First Reloads, need powder selection help. .223

My book says for a .223 68 gr. use: VIHT N-135 H 322 H 335 AA 2230 VIHT N-140 IMR 4895 VARGET BL-C2 WIN 748 *Italics will load up to 2800 fps It also says their best results (with 68 gr appropriate powder) were VIHT N-140, then VIHT N-135. AA 2495 did well but it's for 75 gr. bullets.

    Proprietary and special load projectiles

Stuff like the safety slugs... is it possible to reload those? Do you need a special seating die? Where would you get the bullets? I like the look of Federal's HPs with the spike in the center, can you buy those to reload?

To crimp or not to crimp projectile in M1?

Thanks for the info guys. I couldn't get on this site for a couple days, I wonder if everyone else had the same problem. The bullet has no crimp groove that I can see: I ordered the 30-06 crimp die, just in case I get some cannelure bullets. It was only $8 so I added it to my order of a...

To crimp or not to crimp projectile in M1?

That's funny your down to 5, I only have one and already want more. There appears to be no crimping groove on the bullet. The overall surface is smooth. However I think I'll take your advice and order a Lee Factory Crimp Die, unless I hear from someone very impressed with a different one. Thank...

To crimp or not to crimp projectile in M1?

Hello holders of reloading knowledge! I have had successful experience with .223WSSM reloading. I just got a primer pocket reamer tool to get rid of the crimp in the primer pocket on my surplus Garand ammo. Now I have prepped the cases and there is a part I'm unsure about; whether or not I...

    Browning Buckmark Or Ruger MKII

I think I am going to settle on a Buckmark Hunter. http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=006B&cat_id=051&type_id=403 It seems to have all I want, adjustable sights, long sight radius, integral mount, and matte finish. I like rubber grips but on this one wood will...

    Browning Buckmark Or Ruger MKII

Thanks for all your responses guys. So many of you like both or either, there is is no real definitive contrast. I'm going to go do as suggested and see which one best fits my hands.

    Browning Buckmark Or Ruger MKII

Looks like the Ruger is winning by a landslide, but there is nothing bad about the Buckmark. May it be that the MKII is more widely owned and well know, and my poll reflects that more then a true comparision of the two? They both seem to have some sort of built in slide, is there any mechanical...

Why Can't I Shoot Handguns Well?

I admit I did not read everyones posts. This is the least work/best payoff method I can think to suggest. I would sit in a chair, and shoot with both hands resting on a sand bag. The distance of your target doesn't matter as long as you can see it well. Practice, focus on sight picture and...

    Browning Buckmark Or Ruger MKII

I want to get a .22LR pistol and have narrowed it down, either a Ruger MKII or a Browning Buckmark. From what I have read they both seem good. Which one do you think I should get, or avoid, and why? I want a full size for plinking, pests, and paper at the range. Do any hold more then 10 rounds?

Next buy .22LR pistol - Talk me in/out of Ruger MKIII

That one looks really nice. I thought I might get the crimson trace laser hand grip and put a pistol scope on top if I get the Ruger. I never bought a laser sight but on this "fun gun" I would like to try. New safety feature? Is there a place that gives a good MKI, MKII, MKIII comparision.

why do so many people love 1911's

The 1911 will simply not let you down and has been around. For a new owner I do not know of any model that better sums up what an automatic pistol is.

Next buy .22LR pistol - Talk me in/out of Ruger MKIII

Next gun for the collection is going to be a new full-size .22LR pistol. I want to spend <$400 and have a good shooter. I don’t want a conversion kit for one of my other pistols, I want a dedicated .22LR and maybe one day jump through the hoops to get it suppressed. Originally I wanted a...

    Worth it to Reload 7.62x39?

Your paying about $0.50/round while surplus is available, for shame :P I like Bear ammo for my SKS and if you search you can find it pretty cheap. Silver Bear and Brown Bear from Russia are getting harder to find but people generally still have Wolf ammo. Check out deals on cases and battle...

I think I have my equipment in order, need double check.

New to the list: OAL gauge I own a digital caliper made by Frankfort Arsenal. Should I still get an OAL gauge? What exactly does this gauge do? I can sum my bullet length and case length before assembly, then subtract from that the length of the finished cartridge and get my seating depth...

I think I have my equipment in order, need double check.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I did not list the literature that I have. I only have a skimpy reloading manual that came with the powder, some equipment manuals, but nothing specific for this cartridge. Should I buy specific manuals for each caliber or a larger more encompassing book? I...

I think I have my equipment in order, need double check.

I have never reloaded before and know no one with real practical experience to show me, however I did watch a video and put the basics together. The rifle I want to reload for is a Winchester Model 70 Stealth II with a Burris 6X HBRII scope mounted on Leopold rings. The barrel is 26” long with a...
