    handling gun return expenses.....

on gunbroker i found a new 20ga gun for use on my daughters hs trap team. it was described as the stevens 555 compact trap model with the specs showing a 26" barrel and 13.75" length of pull. unfortunately, after paying for the shipping, tax and transfer, i have my daughter shoulder the gun at...

    When do you walk away?

sounds like you are expecting democratic results from a dictatorship..... perhaps having enough people sign a petition will get the attention of the ruling class?

Why the SKS is a better than the AK47 for civilian use

i have to argue for the superiority of sks, as i live in NY. unfortunatly, many ak's are now banned here. because of the internal magazine the sks does not meet the definition of an assualt rifle in this state, thus becoming more useful to me.

Should Concealed Carriers Carry A Flashlight?

i agree with david e. i keep a single aa light in my pocket every day, as i am a handyman contractor and find it very useful. it always cracks me up when the homeowner will see me emptyhanded going into the basement, and insist on grabbing their big d-cell light. then when i need it i turn on...

    Would You Do It?

if i were able to retreat safely with my family, i would do so. if cornered and i felt that i had time to draw safely, i would do so. even by myself, considering that 2/3rds of my families support comes from my income, i would try to disengage and retreat.

Real world gunfight not as expected

two things i take took to heart from his interview: it doesn't happen like it does in the movies. (he was referring to how someone responds when they get shot) he didn't leave his fate to "luck". (in reference to not just lying there and hoping you survive).l glad he survived, and i...

    buying rusty guns

i have the oppurtunity to but a number of guns that went through a flood. there are some good quality as well as some junk. there are at least 5 colt 45's, a ruger vaquero, smith 357 44mag and 38, springfield armory 45, and about 15 crappy guns. the problem is they were underwater for some...

    Model 65 vs. 66

i have a 66-1 w 6", and a 65-2 w 4". the barrel on the 65 is markedly heavier. both have very good triggers, but the 66 has an adjustable overtravel pin (perhaps aftermarket?) that makes the trigger a little better.

SD Shooting in Houston - 6/18/09

tactically, what i see as the homeowners biggest mistake (besides his poor choice of neighborhoods) was taking the teens property into his house. if i had an item, particularly an item that might be used against myself in a court of law, i would want it back. an even bigger mistake may have...

somebody stop me (from buying a kel-tec)

actually, i don't want to buy the kt. i think it is an ugly gun with the only appeal being that it is a highly concealable 9mm with good reliability. i really wanted to buy one of the kahr's, but there were way to many failure stories for me to feel comfortable with their reliability for carry...

somebody stop me (from buying a kel-tec)

i've been looking for a pocket pistol, and really had myself convinced that i would get a kahr. suddenly, everywhere i look, it seems that there are sporadic problems with their lighter models. the next choices on my list are the small kel-tec 9's. any negative thoughts besides asthetics? have...
