    Reloading .223 - Did I miss a step?

I would try running a ladder test. Start 1 and 1/2 grains less and increase in .2 grains increments. Shoot 8 shots and mark each shot. The 3 closest grouping shots will give your most accurate load. Take the middle or?? what you think best and if they run a little faster or slower they will...

Anyone load down 223 loads with Blue Dot or Unique????

There is some info over at cast boolits http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=33862&highlight=.223+mold" read the articles (listed in 2nd post). I also read a guy was getting his AR to cycle with 4895 i believe in a cast bullet reduced load. So cycling is possible.

It's not "just a movie" or "just entertainment" - it is powerful propaganda

I think the issue isn't the propaganda that is everywhere. Why don't we teach everyone to question where their ideas come from?? They come from their parents, their school, their church, the news on media, etc. That's easily defeated by questioning why the opinions expressed are presented...

recommendations for optics for my AR(s)?

I have a BSA holo red dot on my Keltec su15 and I love it. It's not going to last like a bushnell but when on sale at Midway they are $30. They are very light compared to a high power scope, the aquisition is almost instantaneous and especially good for mover's. here's a pic of accuracy at...

Will a Ruger Mini-14 meet my WTSHTF needs?

Get the target mini 14 - a very accurate and nice gun. Look up on you tube for a couple of sub moa demos. On gunbroker they aren't much more than the standard mini 14.

    Varmint Rifle

The .223 will cost considerably less for all the practice you'll be doing. Figure how much it will cost to shoot 1000 rounds + the rifle price and add a decent scope- then compare. The .243 would be better if shooting deer is important. The 22-250 will break the bank?? I like the savage btw

    Quality optics $200 - $275?

I happen to love my mueller 8X25 X 44mm with mil-dot-accurate at 10X and doubled at 20X. http://www.eabco.com/cgi-bin/shopper.exe?preadd=action&key=029-T852544 $ 170 delivered, has held zero very well on my .223 (2500 rounds) and 7mm rem mag (200 rounds), is parralax adjustable, the turrets...

palm I like this one alot its free and does a great job but a little hard to figure out all its features. http://www.freewarepalm.com/calculator/pocketssf(sharpshooterfriend).shtml there are 2 other free balistic programs at that sight also that are good but don't have a data base for rifles...

Opinions on Kel tec SU 16?

You can get the target mini14 which is quite accurate and the saiga in .223 or 7.62X39 or .308 also. I am in calif. also and am quite happy with my su16ca. It is not as battle rifle quality as an ar but hey we cant get ar's without the nonremoveable magazine so ??? The ar will never fold up...

    Target Mini or AR?

you tube video You wanted to know what the video had on it. It shows a guy shooting another guys new mini 14 target and it does really well. It is a very nice looking rifle and he shows the 100 yard targets tighten up groups down to about a quarter (25 centpiece) size from 1&1/2". Then he...

Putting together my first precision rifle

On my mueller mil-dot the center cross hair covers about 1/4" and it doesn't matter whether its 50 yds. or 500 yards. So not all mil-dot cross-hairs cover your target. The dot (not cross-hair) is large (I believe 2 mils circle). It reads mils accurately on 10 power but not any other (although...

    Scope selection?s

I like my Mueller 8X25 X 44 mil-dot. Glass is very clear, I can see .22 holes at 200 yards in good light, have parralax adjustment, and ajustable eye piece. The eye relief is 3" and I never blacken my eye on the rem mag so your safe with 3". The scope is $180 and have never seen a bad review...

    This scope?

I've got a keltec su16 so kind of like an ar15. The guys at the ktog (keltec owners) site have had bad luck with some (not all) nc stars. I have a Mueller 8x25X-44mm objective scope with mil dots that I like a lot. Had it 3 years now problem free, put 2500 rounds of .223 with it on. I think...

    Zero the scope!

+1 on the starting at 25yards. Or even closer. You can fire a lot of rounds and not get on paper at 100 yards. First get on paper then adjust crosshairs. Remember the scope is 2 or more inches above the bore so if they were parallel, the point of impact would be 2 inches low at the muzzle...

I have a 30-06, what more or less does a new rifle in 300 win mag offer?

I just choose a savage package gun in 7mm rem mag as a lot of posts I read said it outperformed the 300 win mag and seemed ballisticly 1/2 way between the .308 and the .338 lupua. But if I already had a 30-06 I wouldn't have bought it. Save your money and spend it on the much cheaper surplus...

    cheap red dot for ar15?

I second the BSA holo sight. I got one on my keltec su and love it. $30 on sale at midway-best sight I've bought. It stays on target even when your eyes move around and leaves a clear easy to see field. It would need to be on a picatinny or weaver rail-so flat top.

    Real ID act and guns

Watch the movie freedom to fascism on google video. The real ID act was set to go on may '08 but half a dozen states have balked. One of the main reasons is the cost to implement it. Watch the Federal government (worried more about dissent than terrorists) will agree to fund the states as...

    best bang-for-buck AR15 CQB optics?

If you want to try one out (not in life and death) I like Midway's sale on the Bsa holo sight @ $30. Comes with 11 brightness settings (I can see easily pointed at the sky on a sunny day) and 4 different red dot sizes. I love this unit see reviews @...

    Inexpensive spotters?

I can easily see .223 holes in computer paper @ 100 and can sometimes make them out @ 200 with my Mueller 8x25 x 44 scope. I usually use 12-14 power for good clarity @ 100. I have actually looked thru the Harbor Freight $50 spotting scope and it wasn't bad. Haven't seen thru it at the range...
