help needed finding mags for 7.62x39 ar15

The Colt 7.62x39 my Dad had came with two regular (straight) 20rd mags with Colt 7.62x39 stamped on the floorplate. I think they held 9 or 10 rounds and had the exact same black plastic follower and feed lips as the Colt 5.56x45 mags. I still use some for in my 5.56 Stag today. I only tried to...

    Dragunov Tigr questions

I convinced my Dad to get a B-west import in 93-94 for about $725 or so. It's a great rifle. My Dad was jealous of how accurate my 270 BAR was but wanted a rifle he wouldn't have to equip with a scope or sight in. I told him they are usually sighted in at the factory and he was sold. He didn't...

Please recommend a .308 rifle or carbine

My 270 BAR MKII Safari w/BOSS will shoot sub-MOA all day long except for the first cold/clean shot with Federal Premium ammo. I find it to be a fantastic hunting rifle. It's lightweight, powerful, accurate and recoil is quite soft. In Missouri you can use ten round magazines (if available) but...

    J vs K frame .357s

So 125gr bullets are ok with lower pressure/velocity 38 or 38+p loads but not full magnums. What about Buffalo Bore 38+p (or similar loads) with low pressure but high velocity 125gr projectiles? Would such loads still have the flame cutting and cone cracking potential of a similar velocity .357...

    J vs K frame .357s

Interesting. Is there a simply velocity limit (say 1200-1300fps)? 158s can have very close to the same energy as 125s but with a lower velocity. It sounds like the relieved section of the K frame barrel could crack from any ammo if it was hit wrong. Is the 125gr ammo just more prone to cause...

    J vs K frame .357s

So how many rounds did cops shoot to cause forcing cone problems? Was it only the forcing cone or did any of the guns just shoot loose? S&W did replace the K .357s with L .357s so I'm assuming this isn't just one of those police dept. gun myths. Did Smith ever do a scientific study or did they...

    J vs K frame .357s

Maybe I'm weird but I actually enjoyed shooting 125gr. magnums out of a 2" 640. I was plenty accurate with them also. Sure it barked pretty good but it wasn't that bad on the hands either. I wouldn't want to shoot the same load out of any of the lighter ubertanium alloy guns, however.

    J vs K frame .357s

That's what make sense to me but I hear so much about how Ks can't digest .357s and how Js can.

    J vs K frame .357s

Which gun/frame is actually stronger? If using the same full power .357s (say normal Remington 125gr.) which gun would likely fail first? I'm mostly interested in just comparing the gun designs not materials so think steel vs. steel. Are the beefed up .357 J frames better suited for the round or...

    S&w 66-2 Dob?

    Cool—thanks for your help!

    S&w 66-2 Dob?

No but it could be 127K19xx. If it is the "1" is very faint and far front of the rest of the numbers.

    S&w 66-2 Dob?

I've read 66-2s didn't start until 1982. Maybe the frame was made and numbered before the gun was assembled. Four years seems like a long time for the frame to sit in parts though.

    S&w 66-2 Dob?

I just bought a LNIB 66-2 on gunbroker. I should be able to pick it up Monday. Would someone do me a favor and look up it’s DOB in the meantime? The serial number is 27K19XX. I’ve already bought some really nice Herrett Custom Coco Bolo grips from CDNN for $29. Thanks.

    dry fireing rimfire bolt action......

That's nice to know about the 1022s bolt design. Does anyone know about semi-auto Marlin's (model 60 or 70)?

    TOUGH Criteria for a Rifle

If your not hunting anything larger than deer, not shooting more than 150-200 yards, and CA doesn't have law that limits you to less than 10 rounds for hunting then get a SKS while you still can. You should be able to get one in decent condition for hunting in your price range.

    Rifles you missed out on

I thought of a second one--a NIB Norinco AK Underfolder w/spike bayonet for $375 in 1995. Again I was 15 and had no money!

    Saiga or M1A?

I like HKs but because they hate me (and I can't afford them) I got a PTR-91 and an IGF/Vector V-93. If you dream of owning a M1A then save for it. Sagias are great rifles for the money especially now that you can get hi-cap mags but I know after you shoot it a few times you'll wish you'd saved...

    Rifles you missed out on

C&S Metall Werkes Fleming Sear in an original HK MP5 PDW for $5,000 in 1997! Only two problems—I was 17 and neither my Dad or I had 5k.

H&K and now Sig AR15 mag

I thought the plastic PMAGs were the ones Magpul claimed weren’t for law enforcement or military use and had problems with their first run. The company makes some great stuff but I’m really hesitant about plastic AR mags after the Orlites I had. On the other hand my Bulgarian plastic mags have...

H&K and now Sig AR15 mag

I have a bunch of USGI Okay 30s and Colt 20s. They work great but wear very quickly. They’re easy to dent and unreinforced aluminum feedlips can expand and/or bend out of alignment. Most of my mags are bare metal or brass colored from wear and cleaning. The grey powder coating comes off just...
