Let's see carbines in pistol cartridges.

The 77/357 is crazy expensive for what it is, but it’s one sweet gun! It’s a shooter for sure, does about 2” groups at 100 yards with my hand loads (158gr XTP over max H110). The 1894 in 357 is a late Remlin and extremely well made, it may be better than my JM Marlin 1894! I put a micarta...

Let's see carbines in pistol cartridges.

Marlin 1894 in 357 Mag and Ruger 77/357 I had threaded recently. I built a 350 Legend AR as light as possible, kind of fits in with this crowd!

    5.56 in 223

Technically there's a difference in throat length (the bullet in a 5.56 chamber has more travel before engaging rifling). I've shot plenty of 5.56 out of 223 bolt guns and never had an issue. It's up to you but in billions of rounds of 223 and 5.56 being shot I've never heard of anyone who's...

After 2000 rounds, my P365XL has a lot of OOB failures

Holy crap!!! I figured it out! I took apart my striker tonight and that didn’t fix it, but while checking everything out I found a lot of wear on the slide where it enters the frame at the front… I had tightened my Streamlight down decently tight last time I cleaned it before I shot it last...

After 2000 rounds, my P365XL has a lot of OOB failures

    Just a reminder: it’s an empty chamber…

After 2000 rounds, my P365XL has a lot of OOB failures

I don’t think this is an RSA issue. I’ll replace it just in case but there’s a resistance there right before full battery that I never felt before. There is definitely an increase in drag when letting the slide down slowly.

After 2000 rounds, my P365XL has a lot of OOB failures

I’ve been shooting this gun for 2 years. About 2000 rounds through it. Been doing an informal class with drills lately and at the last one I had about 10 RTB failures. It was a mess. Never had this before. I cleaned it well before and after the issue. Here’s the weird things: If I rack it...

Looking for load data: 357 Subsonic from a rifle (158g W231)

I happen to have a taper crimp die (Lee) in my set. I think I’ll try a couple and pull them apart to see. These bullets have tended to stay together really well in the past when I shot them at water jugs. Maybe I’ll shot a few into water and see if the playing flakes at all.

Looking for load data: 357 Subsonic from a rifle (158g W231)

I have a threaded Ruger 77/357 and a 358 suppressor. I'm looking to load heavy copper plated X-Treme Bullets 158g in 357 brass. I have 38 special brass but don't want a powder ring in my chamber (it's only ever shot 357 brass). Looking to stay just under subsonic as this will be a nighttime...

M-16 Forward Assist ... did you need it?

I hate them and brass deflectors on uppers. They significantly add to the width of the gun. Having said that, I've used it probably 10 times hunting or shooting. Once was in about 0 degree weather and at the time I was greasing most everything on an AR (instead of oil). The gun was very...

Love these little fold-in-half Turkish Shotguns (after some modification)

LOL, I spent a couple hours machining that peep! It’s cut from a grade 8 shoulder bolt. The problem with using a stock peep sight was I had to make it a certain height and it’s biased to the side a bit to get my POA and POI correct.

Love these little fold-in-half Turkish Shotguns (after some modification)

Most all of us mourned the loss of NEF single shot shotguns, I had 1 that had a bent barrel and sold it a decade ago. I wanted a compact shotgun for my cabin and went down the rabbit hole of these hyper-folding single shots. No less than 6 companies make a few variations but after researching...

some misconceptions about 357 and 44 in carbines

My 77/357 is a 2" at 100 yard gun all day long. The weird thing about it is that it is more consistent than any of my bottleneck deer rifles. It NEVER has a flier, I can't remember one in several hundred shots at targets. It's really easy to shoot which might have something to do with it. I...

    Inherent Cartridge Accuracy

The cartridge dimensions/proportions themselves are only half the equation. The dimensions of the chamber, barrel, forcing cone, etc are the second half of that equation. Some of these are up to the manufacturer, but some are laid out by SAAMI. Modern cartridges like the 6.5 Creedmoor have...

Has anyone tried to put a 77/22 action in a 10/22 stock?

I have a 77/357 (which I’ve read drops into a 77/22 or 77/17 stock) which has almost no aftermarket stock options. Does anyone have a 77/22 and 10/22 who can check if this is feasible? I understand I will have to modify it somewhat, just wondering if the holes and clearances are somewhat...

    New .22 Suggestions?

Love my Henry 22. It's a Youth model and perfect for shooting and carrying around. I put a receiver peep sight on it and modified the front sight to take an ar front sight post. It's an easy 1" at 50 yards gun. Very surprised by the accuracy with quality ammo. It's smooth as a 100 year old...

Efficient Cartridges for Short Barreled Hunting Rifle?

Don't discount 357 Mag and 44 Mag. Excellent 16" barrel rounds and there powder is pretty much all burned up by them. Much less blast but still plenty of power.

6.5 Creedmoor with 130gr bullets. What's your favorite H4350 load? What velocity do you get?

I have been working up a deer round for my Tikka with a 24" barrel. I'm at 43gr H4350 now but only getting 2720 FPS. I have no pressure signs whatsoever (nice rounded primers with no cratering and no bolt face impression) and have seen a lot of guys going above 43gr. I was hoping to get above...

Decent 22 Mag with a wood stock and 16"-20" threaded barrel

I haven't had a 22 Mag in years and am looking to get a new one. This will be gun that will be carried around, not shot from the bench much. The perfect gun would be a CZ 457 Scout in 22 Mag but I don't think they make them... All their other options either don't have a threaded barrel (not...
