Cant get slide off my Sig 226. Help please!

I have had a Lasermax installed on my Sig 226 which has worked great. This is the setup where the stock guide rod is replaced by the Lasermax guide rod and spring and the laser is activated by the new take down lever which has an internal button. Something had gone wrong with the take down...

    Double-Tap ammo...speed limitations and failures?

^^^You can steer the wheel of your car with your feet but that doesnt make it a good sound idea :) I know that hand loading can produce great results. My disagreement was with DoubleTaps load going 1455ft/sec. That DT 180gr load has been chrono'd over and over my users all around the country...

^^^good one :) Yeah that was supposed to be sea level lol

    Double-Tap ammo...speed limitations and failures?

No offense but there is no way that the DT 180gr was going that fast in a 6" barrel. Do you know how fast 1455ft/sec is on a 180gr bullet? It means that it was producing 846ft/lb of energy which is unattainable out of a 6" barrel. I bet you can't find another source that shows their chrono'd...

Black soot on my handgun cases after shooting!

^^^Can a light crimp cause it? I am wondering with the max powder charges and not enough crimp if some of the powder goes unburned maybe?

Black soot on my handgun cases after shooting!

I dont particularly care about it just that when i see a change from factory rounds i wanted to make sure nothing is out of whack. All jacketed bullets.

Black soot on my handgun cases after shooting!

    Thanks for the input. Actually the loads are on the max side of things. For example: 10mm 180gr XTP AA#9 14.0gr 1.260" 10mm 155gr XTP AA#9 15.9 gr 1.260" 9mm 147gr Gold Dots AA#7 7.2gr 1.13" 9mm 124gr XTP AA#7 8.2gr 1.12 9mm 124gr XTP Ramshot Silhouette 5.6gr 1.16" All the above...

Black soot on my handgun cases after shooting!

I reload for 9mm and 10mm and notice that there are black soot on the side of most brass i pick up. I dont see this as much with a factory loaded round. I use the Hornady dies that seat and crimp in one station and wondering if maybe the crimp is not right or tight enough??? There are no...

Reloaded and chrono'd some hot 9mm 147gr rounds!

The hornady and Speer numbers look very surprising since Accurate Arms the makers of the powder state 6.5gr as the starting load, so it is weird that 6.7gr is maximum. AA lists 6.5gr as starting and 7.2gr ad max which is same as Lyman #49. At 7.2gr there were absolutely no pressure signs at all.

Reloaded and chrono'd some hot 9mm 147gr rounds!

^^^I agree fully. I was just impressed that even at 7.0 and 7.2gr the velocities were still higher than the factory rounds which is nice in my book. I plan to reload at 7.2gr from here on. The 7.4 was more to see the room for error per say in case my powder measure dropped an 0.1 gr if i should...

Reloaded and chrono'd some hot 9mm 147gr rounds!

First time i have reloaded for the 9mm and decided to go with AA#7 for my heavy 9mm reloads since i use them also for the 10mm 155gr variety. I chrono'd these factory rounds out of the M&P9c which has 3.5 inch barrel and completely stock minus trigger work. I am listing the average of a five...

Chamber support in the M&P9? How is it??

^^^No disrespect but you are wrong. The glock 20 will do just fine with standard down played loads. But if you load hot rounds you will see the famous "glock smiley face" on your brass. For example, with standard G20 barrel 13.5gr of AA#9 shows pressure signs where as even with 14.5gr of...

Chamber support in the M&P9? How is it??

I have an M&P9 compact that i love and want to reload 9mm. I have been reloading 10mm for my Glock 20 and immediately got an aftermarket barrel for better chamber support since i am loading hot 10mm loads. I was wondering how the chamber support in the M&P9s were and if an aftermarket barrel is...

    50BMG and amount of crimp????

^^^I definitely understand that part. What i am trying to figure out is actually how much crimp to apply?

    50BMG and amount of crimp????

I got the Hornady 50BMG kit and have prepared some cases and ready to load and assemble. I am having a difficulty figuring out the amount of crimp to put on the bullet. The ammo will be fired in a Barrett M82 so it will be a semi of course and would require a crimp. The way i set up the...

    Tumbling cases???

I just got a Hornady tumbler and Frankford Arsenal corn cob media. I put 30 cases of 50 BMG in the tumbler and after three hours the cases look pretty clean and shiny but the necks still have a lot of crud on them. I let the tumber go for three hours straight with four teaspoons of brass...

    10mm vs 40 S&W Recoil

Think of it this way. The 40 is basically +P. This is why there is no +P in any factory 40 ammo. It is already loaded to max pressures, and further reason there have been some kb in glocks with less that desired chamber support. The 10mm is not loaded to max pressure. Most 10mm ammo even...

brown bear ammo in my Glock?

The Brown Bear 9mm is awesome in my opinion. To give you a back ground. I have shot over 3000 rounds in all of my 9s and they all have performed well. It is also the only 9mm besides the American Eagle (red box) 9mm that runs in my 9mm AR. When i run Blaser or less potent range ammo my 9mm AR...

    Pistol to learn accuracy with

There are a few problems i see from your original post: 1) Not shooting for 10yrs 2) Shooting a 45 after such a long rest 3) Shooting at 25yards I like to shoot steel at 50yards and is fun but i shoot 10k rounds a year. You need to start shooting much closer, and i mean a lot closer. Start...
