I had someone recently say to me that FMJ in .45 ACP was plenty for self defense load....I know any number of bullet profiles will shoot accurately in my pistol so what do you all think? Is penetration with a smaller hole (20"+) better than 13" inches with an expanding hollow point round...
I have used a 6" GP100 with 180 Grain Winchester Partition Gold to harvest a doe at 63YDS. The bullet went through that deer like she was toilet paper and she dropped on the spot!
I agree with BigO01...use the cash savings towards a holster, ammunition etc. Armscor makes the slides, frames and barrels for RIA, Charles Daly and STI Spartan. Some may say that cast isn't as good as forged....although all my Ruger revolvers are cast and are excellent...to each their own...The...
Looking for a CCW holster for Gov't. size 1911. I prefer OWB but open to other suggestions.I'm 6'1 240# with a 40" waist (I'm portly).Suggest holster type/style and Manufacturer please
I love Ruger's and 1911A1 designs. I have never had that particular Ruger but have shot a P345 (single stack)and it felt great and was accurate with everything it digested. If I was looking for another .45ACP (and I am) it will be a 1911A1....I love it's feel and it's distinguished history.
Cast your vote for either Springfield Mil-Spec in Parkerized, Stainless or a Charles Daly EMS Parkerized or RIA any variety and any comments are welcome
It looks like there's a lot of disruption/ wounding of the gelatin compared to the lack of expansion of the projectile. Is this the type of wounding/ wound channel that can be expected in a moderate to fast moving slug of this design?
Sorry, no picture... I took a doe at 63 yards with my GP100 and was using 180 grain Partition Gold. It was a broadside shot and I was using a red dot scope and had been practicing a lot... now I reload and will be using a lead cast Beartooth Bullet 185 grain, 180 grain Hornady XTP or Cast...
I was wondering if anyone has taken time and spent the money to chrony the muzzle velocity of 180 grain cast and jacketed hollow point ammunition from various manufacturers compared to their posted velocities... just looking for most powerful load for my GP100 6"
The Ruger holster is a good choice... you might take a little time to browse gun stores (not chain stores) and often times you can find used holsters that might be just what your looking for...one person's trash is another's treasure... Oh, I thought I might post a link to a thread you may have...
