Hey guys,
Western/Ramshot has a great .45 ACP +P load (230g Gold Dot I Use) at ~950fps I use using Silhouette, and it is perfect for SD/low light loads. Goes out of my 5in Colt Government Series 80 at around 930-960. Very manageable and no excessive pressure signs w/ WSP primer. Duplicates most...
Hi guys,
I’m looking for a flash suppressed or low flash powder for SD loads that can achieve the following velocities (which I’ve done using regular flash bulb in your face powders):
9mm +p 124g gdhp 1250fps glock
357 magnum 158g 1175fps medium load 4in revolver
38 special +p 125g hp...
Hi guys,
I remember there used to be a calculator online that you would enter a known powder charge and velocity for that charge, and then enter a new desired velocity and it would spit out the charge for it.
Does anyone have a link to this calculator?
Also - I have 8.9gr Blue Dot for 1238fps...
I have a couple boxes of a load my friend had put together, and wanted to get your guys opinion before I start loading it myself.
6.2 g Unique, Rem 125g JHP, Win SP Primer, Moderate crimp
Shoots good, load does feel a bit on the hotter side, but not unmanegeable. Cases drop fine, no...
Hey guys,
I need to load a few ---- rounds. I'll be loading +P at 930-950fps.
.45 Speer Gold Dots are almost non-existant, so I've kinda settled on two bullets:
1. Hornady 230g XTP
I have heard that XTP bullets are notorious for not expanding, then read the opposite. So I'm not sure what the...
Hi guys,
I have a Leupold scope on my R700 that doesn't have the click-type adjustments, they adjust without clicking. My other scopes do click when adjusting.
My questions is this:
Does anyone make any micrometer-style knobs (like the Stoney Point ones) that have a built-in "click"...
Hey guys,
Quick question for you gunsmiths.
Instead of purchasing the trigger stirrup die from Brownells (http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/handgun-tools/trigger-tools/1911-auto-trigger-stirrup-die-prod788.aspx), I wanted to know if any of you had one and could do a trigger for...
Hello Gents -
I have a .357 Magnum loaded with 158 grain Remington SJHP bullets under 14.8 (debating on reducing to 14.5) of 2400 powder.
What kind of Lethality on human targets, as well as penetration on other areas, do you feel this load is?
IMPORTANT:
I am not interested in people stating...
Hi guys.
Does anyone know of a place that repairs AK-47 Drum mags, or has a spring for them? It's a flat, wound spring in mine with a removable backplate.
It will not feed the last 8 or so rounds because the spring's tension is, well, it's worn out apparently.
Any help much appreciated.
How many rounds do you think a current production 686 (standard 6 round model) will withstand before needing to be overhauled or discarded/replaced with Full-house 357 Magnum loads (14.8g 2400 158 grain reloads)
Hi guys.
Can anyone of you retired LEO's identify this pouch behind the gun that I've seen on TJ Hooker, CHiPs (the screenshot), and a couple other 70's/80's cop shows?
Mucho gracias!
Hi guys.
I wanted to know what you all thought of 14.8g of 2400 for a full power 357 Magnum load, and what you usually load with 2400?
Does the 14.8g feel like most other 357 Magnum factory loads, or stouter?
Thanks
Hi guys.
I bought an old Bianchi Break-Front, but the hammer strap has become worn (leather is stretched and the snap is loose).
Does anyone know of a holster maker or leathersmith that can recondition or re-create the hammer strap?
BTW - if anyone has some info - how come some of them...
Hey guys,
Since switching to M-pro 7 I have a bunch of Hoppes, etc. I won't be using anymore and don't know anyone to donate them to, so what should I do with them?

Hi guys,
I have a John Masen 1911 Wide Spur Hammer, works great, but the bluing or whatever they used is wearing off.
I tried using Cold blue, it didn't take, so it's not steel, then I tried Aluminum-Black, it didn't take, so it's not aluminum, so what the hell is this thing made out of so...
First time, amatuer kitchen table gunsmith. I can do some things :p
Anyhow, I bought Jack Weigand's extractor adjusting arbor and guage set to get my 1911 Ed Brown Hardcor Extractor set to 25-28 pds as he suggested, got it to 26 after a two tries.
Idiot who installed it for me originally, who...
