    Shipping Firearm and Ammunition

IIRC, I have to use Fedex or UPS. Have to ship them in separate packages. Have to label the ammo ORM-D. Do I have to declare the firearm or label it anything special? Are there any other things I need to do to "follow all of the rules" when shipping a rifle and some ammo? I haven't shipped...

    Which branch to join?

Mods - not sure where this should go but I figured THR would be able to help me make a decision. I'm 31, single, no children and want to serve my country. According to my research, I'm only eligible for the following branches: Army Navy Army Reserves Army National Guard Air Force Reserve Air...

    Buyers Beware

I posted back in January about purchasing a sub gun (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=698987). After posting that thread I decided to wait until I received the item before expressing my opinion. I paid for the item on December 26th. It was shipped to my dealer on 3/19. I know for a...

Class 3 Dealers - am I getting screwed?

Hello All, On December 17th I paid for my first class 3 weapon (Mac 10 with suppressor on a form 3 in wisconsin). I understood that the seller (who is a class 3 dealer) would have to transfer it to a dealer in my state who would then transfer it to me. I paid the asking price and an extra $90...

    HD Slo-mo, XD9, Kimber Tactical, (MP5, M16 Full auto)

I made a full auto video, but apparently THR is more interested in critiquing than appreciating.

    Joined the Kimber club yesterday

The most accurate semi-auto I've ever shot, and now have the pleasure of owning :) :D So far i've put 150-175 rounds through it with zero issues. It's more accurate than I am, that's for sure! Kimber Tactical Custom II

    1911 mag holders

I just upgraded for a Tactical Custom II, but since I sold my springfield I no longer have the dual mag holders. Anyone recommend a dual mag setup or even a bunch of singles I could purchase online? Also interested in a decent IWB holster. TIA

    first bear hunt, any suggestions?

I'm going for spring black bear next month in south west Montana. Will be hunting by myself. Been hunting for years, but this is the first try at a bear. Any suggestions? I know we can't use dogs or bait, so my current game plan is to trek as far into the selway wilderness as possible...

    NFA modifications legality

Hypothetical situation. If I purchased an NFA AK converted to .22LR; could I have it changed back to 762x39, or possibly converted to 223? I guess the general version is can existing nfa guns be rechambered to shoot a different caliber? TIA

NFA suppressor via trust, 6 months later ask for 4473?

I purchased a suppressor last year, and it was successfully transferred to my trust in October. Yesterday I got a letter from the class 3 I used for the transfer, and he is stating I need to fill out a 4473 to complete my transfer :what: I have the forms and the ATF stamp, etc so I can see no...

I need some advice on bagging this monster - pic attached

First and foremost, let me explain the hunting conditions. I live in southwest montana, not quite the mountains but not quite the valley either (4800' elevation). I have 20 acres and i've been here about a year and a half. In spite of dumb luck, I have found a new place to live (in the...

Talk about Irony... recieved my suppressor ON election day :)

I have another thread buried here that describes my never-ending wait for my first suppressor (YHM Phantom QD). Surprizingly after 94 days I received a call stating the CL3 had received my stamp... it just so happened to be November 4th, 2008 :p Anyway, I had an idea to video tape firing an...

Japanese WWII rifle (think it's a type 99 series 24, but unsure) with pics!

Anyone know what this is? What it was used for? Approximate worth? one of my brothers just bought it for $20 :) Currently the bolt wont close all the way (but appears to be the correct bolt for the rifle). I told him not to clean or do anything until the gun history gurus at THR gave us some...

    Flintlock elephant gun...

One of my friends has a family heirloom. This gun is literally 8 feet long, single barrel (appeared to be .60 cal or better... the action was HUGE, much bigger than a regular flintlock rifle), shoulder fired, and a flintlock mechanism. The story I got from my friend was that somewhere in his...

What's going on with all the post-heller lawsuits?

The day of and the day after heller was decided, several lawsuits started (incorporation in ILL, San Francisco, etc). Does anyone have an update for all of these lawsuits? Any way we could have a sticky just for these lawsuits?

Ever been in an actual flood? Here's my story...

I'm telling this story specifically to give an example of how S can HTF, and how I reacted to the situation. Preface: I am renting this home, and when I build my own (which is currently being planned) I wont build it at the mouth of two canyons!!! Yesterday, while idly watching TV; I...

NFA Trust: "ATF takes longer and diggs deeper into your background to discover why"?

It is my joy in life to finally be in the middle of purchasing my first NFA item. (A YHM can for those who care). In any event, thus far it has been 3 months since I origionally paid for the can. I had to have it transferred to a class III dealer first, because none of the dealers in my area...

I met my first pro-gun LEO, a very good experience!

I've posted several times on here about my usual "meetings" with LEOs, and my opinions on the subject. That has officially changed since my recent road trip. ***DISCLAIMER: NO LEO BASHING, as I would like my thread to stay open*** I was travelling interstate, going through Idaho on my way to...
