Yes, it does have "War Finish" on it, but no import marks on the bottom of the barrel. Is there anyplace you can find out what year a Webley was made by its serial or patent number?
Thanks,
John
I have been looking for a Webley for some time and haven't found anything on the web for under about $400. Today on a whim I stopped by a local shop that I hadn't been in for some time. I asked if they ever got Webleys in and the chap says, "Yes, and we have one". Sure enough, a nice MK IV in...
I started as a LEO in 1969 and have had only one semi-auto - departmental issue Glock model 22. All of my handguns are now revolvers and my daily carry is either a Colt Trooper MKIII four inch, or a S&W Model 586 four inch. My favorite shooter is a Colt Python six inch though.
"However...
Here are the Elite grips from Colt on my Python. The rosewood set ( has a gold logo) I bought from grips4guns for about $75. I got them both since they are both really nice. Of course, what I really "need" is another Python so both sets are at home. :D
My understanding is that Excalibur makes the grips for the Colt Python Elite. If you are interested in the walnut version, you can buy them directly from Colt for $65 which includes shipping. Just call Colt customer service. I bought a set for mine and I also bought a set of the rosewood from...
Pohill,
Thanks, I assume that a shooter will require regular maintenance if it is to last a long time. I have a Colt 1860 Army Officer's model that I don't plan to shoot, hence the Uberti. I see where you can get premade pellets now for
.44 caliber so you don't have to use powder. Anyone...
I am considering an Uberti made Colt 1860 Army which I have seen going for anywhere between $250 and a little over $300 depending on the retailer. Anyone have experience with these?
Thanks,
John
I usually back into parking spaces in state vehicles - just the way I always did it on patrol, and the habit stuck. I usually back in with my private car too, but it is a Mini Cooper, so I can parallel park in spaces designed for drive in or back in parking:D If I was going to rob a...
I too think your best bet is to wait for a nice one to come along. Who knows what the cost of the mechanical repair would be, and Colt charges $225 plus $30 shipping for the Royal Blue finish on a Python. If there are deep scratches, they can't fix them. You probably would spend more fixing it...
In Magnum Force you see alot of speedloader action on the part of Clint and the bad guys. Looks like some of the nasty rookies are carrying Pythons.
John
I carry a four inch - either a S&W 586 .357 or a Colt Trooper MKIII .357. I use a Galco Fletch high ride holster and both ride close. Both are great shooters.

I like both Oregon and Washington, although I am a native Washingtonian. I live on the Oregon border and hold both WA and OR CCPs. Sales tax in one and income tax in the other. I wouldn't be surprised if both states have both taxes in the not too distant future - politicians and their greed...
