    S&W M10-5 like new

Here's my 10-5 (1977), in 2-inch, now wearing Don Collins birdseye maple grips. Love this little revolver.

    Snub nose photo thread

My 10-5, the classic snub, wearing Don Collins bird's eye maple.

    Home Defense Wheelguns

Yes, another vote for the Model 10. And wadcutters. With practice, anyone can place three rounds inside a dinner plate at six feet. A snub is light, sure, dependable--and it's hard to grab away.

    N Frame .45's

    My (no longer unfired) 25-2.

    Favorite short barrel revolver

For me it's my pretty S&W 10-5--practical, accurate, and reliable. My nightstand gun, wearing Don Collins's bird's-eye maple stocks.

    Snubs

Here's my S&W 10-5 (1977), now serving as my nightstand gun, wearing birdseye maple stocks by Don Collins.

    My new Model 10

The Model 10 is the premier, no-nonsense .38. Here's my 10-5, a serviceable nightstand revolver. I've dressed this one in bird's-eye maple.

    Haven't Seen Any S&W Model 25's Lately

The Model 25 is arguably the finest large-bore target revolver ever produced--superb balance, trigger, accuracy, and looks. Those who know them will pay plenty to acquire one, and, because they're relatively scarce, the best examples are costly. But, sure, they're still to be had. My 25-2...

    Combat Masterpiece Value?

The S&W Combat Masterpiece was a standard LEO-issue sidearm for many years. Fine gun, but there are lots of them out there. At 85% with Pachs, even if the lock-up is good, it's a $400 handgun, if that.

Finally Picked Up The Model 15-3

Congratulations on the acquisition of a classic all-around revolver--supreme looks, balance, versatility, mechanics, and accuracy. Here are my two 15-3s (blue, 1971, and nickel, 1977) along with their big brother, my 19-4.

    Best larger capacity .22

Yep, the S&W 686 and the S&W 617 do complement each other really well. Love the six-inch barrel, too. This duo is wearing the same size tiger-maple grips by Ahrends. I have an early K-22 (1947) and an A-series model 41 (1982), and, for what it's worth, I shoot the 617 better than either of them.

    Thoughts on 45.acp Revolvers

Very nice, Iggy. But not .45 ACP.

    Thoughts on 45.acp Revolvers

My 25-2 is the absolutely perfect complement to my 14-4. For my money, there's no better balanced, better shooting, or better looking pair of target revolvers.

    My old 10-5

Had this one out this morning, so I thought I'd take a picture. The bird's eye maple grips are by Don Collins.

    K-22 new to me

That's really a very nice K22. I have a 1948 5-screw, too, with the one-line address. You don't mention a number. Mine is K 1700x--close to 1947. The side-plate screws testify to someone's having carelessly tried to get into the works, which may partly account for the excellent price...

Would like to buy a "classic" S&W revolver

The Model 19, as others here have suggested, is worth looking for. Writing at Gunblast.com, R.K. Campbell says this: "If ever there were a revolver of excellent, almost perfect ergonomics, it is the Smith and Wesson Model 19 Combat Magnum. He calls it Smith & Wesson's Best Pistol. Here is...

    My new S&W K22 Masterpiece

Post some pictures when you can. I wouldn't have refinished it, but to each his own. You write, "...but I'd just assume it not look like this." You mean, "I'd just as soon it not look like this." It's an idiomatic expression.

    My favorite Smith is:

Well, today, I'm gonna say my 14-4.

    Smith Model 10 Snub?

The Model 10 snub is a fine shooter. My 10-5 wears Don Collins birdseye maple boot grips these days... Here's an excellent essay on the Model 10: http://www.snubnose.info/docs/m10.htm

Which .22 revolver would you recommend?

With patience, he and you should be able to find a shooter-grade Smith K22 in good shape--blued, in 6-inch. Sure, the S&W Model 17 is always in high demand--but that's for a reason. It's the most accurate and best looking .22 LR out there.
