Reconfigured the SAR-1 with a light and a sidefolder

Ben, If you want to thread your barrel and install the standard muzzle brake, I think I have a barrel section that has the front sight block-- along with the retaining button and spring. I got out of AKs a while back, but I still think I have that in a box somewhere. Its yours if you want...

    Sorry

yote, I've been busy all summer and therefore haven't posted much in the last few weeks. However, I am usually in on all of the "SHTF" or "Zombie" threads. It isn't just a hobby, It's a calling. I find that making a moderator's left eye start twitching is a great foundation to...

    pro mag 20rd mags

I will NEVER own another Pro-mag. EVEN if they were given to me. I wouldn't want to get one mixed up with other magazines if I were actually in an emergency. I had one in an AK that I owned once. A guy wanted to look at the rifle in my lawn one day. I took the magazine out to let him...

How do you make the decision to clean your weapons?

What?!?! No one has mentioned "whenever my daughter has a date?"... :D Seriously, I clean mine after a few shootings. I am not a "range" shooter. I shoot as I need to and at odd intervals. I do, however, oil my firearms about once a month regardless of shooting. Even that...

Weird encounter while walking the dog today

I think, on the other hand, that you should feel lucky that you didn't HAVE to pull it. As soon as a firearm clears the holster, there are variables spinning out of control. You don't know if you would be here today posting about this. It is just my opinion, but I'd be happy that I didn't...

Louisiana: House to debate guns on campus

Can someone check on this? I've been out of the "THR loop" for a week due to being in training in Baton Rouge all week. However... On my long drive in, it has been discussed on talk radio as if it is still to be decided. I was suprised, however, to see a paper Friday morning at the...

Will do my friend... From the top of my head... (unless otherwise stated, they all use the SR-25 style magazine): DPMS LR-308 There are several models to choose from. This is a good place to get an idea: http://www.dpmsinc.com/firearms/category.aspx?id=9 Fulton Armory...

Need a .308 AR-10 type weapon with all the "evil" looking goodies - suggestions?

Actually, I am naturally left-handed. While I shoot right-handed primarily, I can shoot from either shoulder as naturally as the other. In hunting, I have often had to take shots from my left shoulder. In fact, the last three deer I killed were shot left-handed. I say all of that because...

Need a .308 AR-10 type weapon with all the "evil" looking goodies - suggestions?

It means that there is an area on the upper receiver that has a push-button/rod that will assist in closing the bolt on a round if the bolt has not locked down. This is the exact thing that the AR-15 forward assist does. The forward assist isn't all that necessary in most cases. I'd not...

hi im new to the board, but i just finished revamping my mosin looky looky

Bluing will not absolutely protect a firearm against rust. You will still need to oil it and take care of it-- like everything else. However, hot-bluing will protect the rifle and have a lot less need to care for it over bare-metal. Cold-Blue is a cosmetic touch-up in my opinion. -- John

Need a .308 AR-10 type weapon with all the "evil" looking goodies - suggestions?

Regarding "Proprietary" magazines... I am not certain as to what constitutes a "proprietary" magazine. At some point-- when the FAL was the only rifle that took a FAL magazine, that magazine was... proprietary. When the G3 was the only rifle that took a G3 magazine, that magazine was...

hi im new to the board, but i just finished revamping my mosin looky looky

+1 on bluing or some other protective coating. Bluing isn't applied to firearms for the cosmetics. I had some odd AK parts that was left over a while back when I was working on one. I threw them in a trunk INSIDE of my house. About a month later, they look like they were taken off of a...

    Del-Ton Vs. CMMG

I've no experience with CMMG other than my reading. However, I have a Del-ton M4gery that I've had for about two years now. I have absolutely NO complaints with it, and I'd buy another in a heartbeat. -- John
