    First CCW Pistol

As promised I thought I'd follow up and give a little report on the SCCY CPX-2... I took it to the range and put 150+ rounds through it without a failure. I used some Magtech FMJ 125 grain and Winchester steel case stuff (115 grain) that was on sale at Wally World (Holy cow, $20 for 1.50...

    First CCW Pistol

Just as a follow up: I went ahead and bought the Sccy at the local farm store. $199 on sale. After I 've 'cooled off' suficiently in the next 72 hours I'll pick it up and give my impressions of it after I've had a chance to fire it.

    First CCW Pistol

As much as I like revolvers, I'm not very fond of anything concealable. I originally started looking at 380's but the size diff. between them and the smallest 9's is not alot. And then there's the effectiveness of the round... I believe the Sccy has a concealed hammer and the DB9 a pin. I've...

    First CCW Pistol

I'm considering buying my first CCW pistol and have narrowed it down to two moderately priced 9mm: DiamondBack DB9 and the SCCY CPX-2. The SCYY is a little larger mostly in thickness but has a greater capacity (10 vs 6 rounds) both are DAO. The SCCY is striker fired and the DB has a hammer...

Ranges in South Florida - where to shoot coke cans?

Tin cans like soup and such seem to hold up much better than aluminum cans. My son and I shoot them all the time. They really don't make much of a mess and are easy to pick up afterwards.

It's no wonder I can't find any primers

I noticed that I can still get 16ga target loads so I guess I'll just shoot trap untill the other stuff is sorted out.

What are range fees where you live?

$340 per year. Outdoors 100, 50, 25 yeard rifle/pistol, skeet, trap and 5 stand. Except for open shoots, members only. Last time I was at a private range, indoor it was $25/hour. Pistol only. I think most ranges around here are like that.

How can the MSM credibly report on firearms considering their lack of knowledge?

As firearms go, the MSM is not the only purveyors of misinformation. Seems like in this subjuct escpecially fact are more often wrong than write. Take literature for example. Otherwise well researched writers often get firearms related facts wrong. Of course it could be me nitpicking on...

How can the MSM credibly report on firearms considering their lack of knowledge?

I laugh at their arrogance with respect to blogs. How dare we, the common people, interpret the news without them. They, MSM, consider themselves to be much smarter than us in that we apparently don't have the capacity to judge information ourselves. (Of course many of us don't, but then...

    .45ACP - What's you favorite powder?

Bullseye: 4.8gr under a 230g FMJRN. I used to use Unique for my 38special but it didn't burn clean or completely. I try to keep my powder choices as simple as possible and Bullseye does a good 38 and a very good 45ACP.

    This is scary !

Seems Paulson raised to specter of civil unrest in order to free up money for the bank bailout. Irresponsible but not unexpected. "Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma and Rep. Brad Sherman of California disclosed that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson discussed a worst-case scenario as he pushed...

Chicago politics exposed editorial:Of course it's fair that they have guns, you dont

Coruption is part of the system The sad fact is, corruption is part of the system. Take this example: If you want something done, say a city service you already pay for in taxes, where do you go? The appropriate city department perhaps? No, you go to you alderman's office. In other words...

    Illinois Online Ammo Purchases

Is this even legal in IL? Never tried it as I just assumed it wasn't but maybe I'm wrong. I can't find what I want in any of the stores around here but have found it online. Anyone in IL do online ammo purchases?

    lee turret press

Square Ratchet Part #TF3567? Never heard of it. I'm sure it's called a whoseit. I didn't spend 10 years in college for nothing. Oh, well maybe I did. Better reference the part number when calling Lee.

should i buy the turret press

I'm glad I went with a turret press instead of a single stage press the first time around. I would've tired pretty quickly of the single stage one. Not sure about the RCBS, but with the Lee the indexing function can be disabled.

    lee turret press

I had the same problem. It steadily got worse. I replaced the little plastic whoseit the index bar goes in and everything returned to fine. I've been told short stroking it causes it. I have a 4 year old who's fascinated by the contraption so he may be the cause of it. Anyway, bought a bung...

    Shotshell Reloading - No Choice

Is the Lee Load All comparable to the MEC 600 Jr Mark V? (so I'm comparing apples to apples). The MEC works out to about $90 more than the Lee

    Shotshell Reloading - No Choice

After searching all available outlets nearby, I've come to the conclusion I can't get my hands on 16ga target loads. So that leaves reloading if I want to shoot my 16ga SxS. A little research and I think I can get everything I need (press plus components) for less than $175. Question is: Is a...

making a little money in a side business...

+1 on moonclip conversions for revolvers. How about wood cases for reloading turrets? A nice hinged thing that holds maybe four assembled turrets (with dies). Oak, maple, that sort of thing.
