I always tumble cartridges to get the greasy lube off them.
Sometimes I "tumble" cartridges in the washing machine when I forget one or two in my pocket.
Neither one has had any bad effect on the cartridge. Not even the washer.
I've seen this complaint more times than I can count and have even had some
rounds that did the same.
The solution is simple. Either don't crimp or if necessary use a Lee Factory Crimp die and crimp as a separate operation. If using a Dillon 5-station progressive like the 650 just put...
Those who don't "true" their speeds by measuring drop a distant target from what your ballistic app calculated are probably going to miss first shots at LR. Many apps provide this feature.
Been using the motor oil that I drain from the bottles after changing oil in my vehicles. Mobil 1, and it works great wherever I need oil on any of my firearms. Essentially free, too.
I prefer to judge quality by what I have in my hand rather than the "name".
I've found some great quality from companies that have been trashed badly by others as selling only crap.
By the same token I've had some real crap come from big name companies that tout the quality of their...
Want to improve it's efficiency, add a coil of copper in the line and put the coil in a small styrofoam case filled with ice or frozen "gel" blocks. Especially good if the ambient air temp is up near 100 degrees.
This question is a lot like the "Automatic vs Stick" argument in automobiles.
Simple answer though. Learn how to drive "Stick" and you can drive just about anything. Auto only, better only have to drive a car with an automatic transmission.
DA Revolvers are far safer around total...
At first I had this problem with short pistol cases like 9mm. Some patience while adjusting the center pivot bolt for the shell plate fixed the issue. When just loose enough to allow the detent ball to position the shell plate but tight enough to dampen the "snap", the problem is pretty much...
My answer too.
Each firearm I have has at least ONE 50 cal ammo can filled with ammo that's ready to go. Where I have several firearms of the same caliber I have at least one can ready to go for each.
Current events may encourage people to re-evaluate their supply and adjust accordingly.
If you want to predict how a rifle will behave in FA mode take a silhouette of the weapon and draw a line down the axis of the barrel. The farther above the center of the butt-plate this line falls, the greater the tendency for the muzzle to rise under FA.
This is what made the M-16 more...
Yes, but only at the front so the bullet comes up. Too far back and you'll end up with a potential "fountain" where ALL rounds will spurt from the magazine when the bolt is retracted.
If that were MY rifle I'd be smoothing the concentric grooves at the bottom of the breech. Create a smooth...
It's those other disadvantages that make the M-1 Garand a flawed design.
When the last round is fired and the enbloc "clip" is ejected, it can be a rather deadly problem if it hits frozen ground. Ask someone who served and fought in Korea.
Something like "Bang, Bang , etc, followed by...
I'm a pretty "High Volume" reloader and I love the wet process using SS Pins.
Bought a Frankford Arsenal Rotary Tumbler. Holds 700 or so .223 cases, 300-400 .308, and more 9mm than I care to count.
I deprime my brass with a FA Hand Depriming tool and then tumble the load for 1-1/2 to 3...
I used to be a boater. One of the long standing "laws of the sea" was that you went to the aid of another----period.
The opposite seems to be true in the world of firearms. People seem to look for all kinds of excuses NOT to aid another.
One of the most important responsibilities one...
Look for a good used Dillon in the Classifieds on various gun boards.
Buy it, use it to process your brass, then list it on the same Classified section.
You can often get exactly what you paid for it. Consider the modest shipping cost as rent.
I won't buy commercially processed brass...
I never have a problem with a "No Firearms" sign. Unless there is a magnetometer or security person with a wand, I just ignore them.
Let's face it, if you can't see the firearm, is it really there??
Yes, I still follow the law re: schools, courthouses, jails, and Federal...
When it comes to buying firearms I will always give the local shop first chance. In fact my last purchases were from "the little guy". I won't purchase a firearm unless I can touch and feel it. Not interested in buying a pig in a poke. Too much hassle getting any problem resolved.
When...
In a previous house I drilled a hole in the workbench and installed a T-Nut from the bottom. Then had a nice long bolt with big washer that I used to secure things like this when using them on the bench. Worked better than a C-Clamp as there was no excess tool sticking out anywhere and the...
I'm with you. What ever happened to our pioneering spirit. Seems like everyone would rather buy something inferior to what they can build for darn near nothing. :)
