    Happy St. Patrick's Day

The Irish have a proud history as a fighting people; fighting the Vikings, fighting the Romans, fighting the English, fighting each other and yes, even fighting the occasional hangover. Most of their greatest triumphs as soldiers and warriors have come in the service of other countries. This...

    Reasons to be scared

John Kerry will be our next president; he will give us over to the UN, the european union and domestic socialist one worlders. we will lose any traction that we have with the chicoms, the north koreans and the iranians re: nuclear proliferation. we will lose 2a rights across the board...

Gunshow in Richmond, VA this weekend

Let's all gather at 'The Showplace' on Mechanicsville Turnpike and take the sacraments at the altar of the Second Amendment. Daylong services both Saturday and Sunday. A 'love offering' will be taken at the door. I'll see you there Sunday morning. I'll be the guy shopping for guns and ammo...

all of your kerrys are belong to us

The dems have done a great job polishing this pinched loaf until the shiney all but blinds us as to what his real story is.... 4 months in country in Veetnam and decorated for deeds committed under dubious circumstances. 3 purp hearts for shaving wounds and crotch rot and a star for capping a...

    Pop Goes the Weasel

I just finished watching Howard Dean give his 'I've had enough' speech to his followers. Though no longer an active candidate for the nomination of his party, the good Doctor wants his minions to continue the fight to bring democracy back to America and defeat Bush in November by all means...

    Remembering a Patriot

On Wednesday of last week, I recieved news that my cousin, Thomas Raymond Godburn III had been found dead in his home in Jacksonville, Fla. Tommy, as he was known to friends, family and co-workers, was an aeronautical engineer employed by Grumman to supervise the logistics, design and...

    Enfield revolvers for $100, Alex.

At the local toy store today I found an Enfield revolver in .38 S&W for $199.00. Most of the black enamel paint was worn off of it leaving a dull gunmetal finish that was clean and devoid of any rust or pitting. The burr on the hammer had been removed making it double action only but the pull...

    Yet another SKS question

I hope you will take pity on this foolish and impulsive soul. In the years that I have owned firearms I have had two SKS'. The first was a Norinco 'Paratroop' carbine and the more recent was a Yugo. By and by I sold them both, either for cash in hard times or to finance some other gun...

Dean takes it on the chin.

After an hour and some change into the reporting period of the Iowa caucuses, Howard Dean is running a distant third behind John Kerry and John Edwards. I hate to say "I told you so...." (or maybe I don't), but so much for good Doctor and his internet blitz. Do you suppose it's his obnoxious...

    History of Early Shoulder Holsters

Ok, one more time without the sarcasm from me. Do any of y'all have any info, links, documentation or other resources that would help me learning about the development of the shoulder holster. I have spent about 12 hours on the net looking at various rigs for sale and reading whatever scant...

    shouldering the load

In recent video from the Middle East we see officers carrying their sidearms in one of several different shoulder harnesses. A search of pics of officers and men shows the same in Viet Nam, Korea and WW2. Various 'cowboy' sites feature 'huckleberry' rigs for carrying Uncle Sam Colt and I'd guess...

    Help a guy out?

I'm currently looking for a 12 ga. side by side coach gun...20 in. bbl with and overall 36 in. length. It must have exposed hammers and no extractors. I'd like to buy new, but older guns would be just fine. Can anyone give me some info on different makers, sellers, web pages, contacts, etc...

    New point of view

As I related in an earlier post in 'Rifle Country' I recently sold my milsurps, 22's, a 9mm and a pump shotty and got bach to the fundamentals. I purchased a Winchester 94 in 45 Colt and an EAA Bounty Hunter (Peacemaker clone) in the same caliber. I had become rather bored with semi-autos and...

    New point of view

Several weeks ago, I had the urge to rid myself of a multi-caliber collection of weapons and go back to the basics. I purchased a Winchester Model 94 in .45 Colt, along with a Peacemaker clone in the same caliber. We all went to the range yesterday. I have never owned a lever action rifle...

    Ammo Question

Does anyone make/sell a modern day eqivalent of what was called 'buck and ball', a round fired from smoothbore muskets in the early/mid 1800's? I always thought it would make a good, all purpose social round for the 12 gauge.

    CSS Hunley

On February 17, 1864, the Confederate Navy's submarine H.L.Hunley, glided silently through the waters of Breach Inlet and into the openness of Charleston Harbor. Powered by the hand cranked propeller, the Hunley and her crew prepared to dive, hoping to approach the Union blockading fleet unseen...
