IMO in an AR the 20 inch barrel length is the best combination of handling and muzzle velocity.
Opening day I shot a doe at 170 yards with a .223 from an AR with a 20 inch barrel. The bullet was the previously mentioned 65 Grain Sierra Gameking with a muzzle velocity of 2970 fps. The bullet...
I shoot and load a lot of 9mm, and use the Lyman E-Zee Case Gauge on sized brass before loading. The reason I started doing this is because I started having loaded rounds not going flush or slightly below into my EGW Case Gauge. Turns out that all PPU Brass (Prvi Partizan, which also the makes...
I have had at least one 870 in the rotation since 1985.
For me seeing an old 870 at a gun shop or pawn shop is like seeing that special dog at the dog pound and its eyes are saying "PICK ME PICK ME"

I would...
Another fan of Oxpho-Blue.
I have seen more gunsmiths use Oxpho-Blue than any other brand, and every one of them heats up the part to be blued, anywhere from using a hair dryer to using a torch :).
